How do you know they chose? It could have been millions of people just flipping coins to see which side it would land and Donald got lucky?

I'd probably side with Trump if I were muican. Hilary/Obama would have taken the guns. The rednecks will need these to kill whatever is left alive after zombie apocalypse when the immigrants bring in diseased soldiers so feminists can breed with them to raise an army of left voters that want to ban GTA and free speech.

There are only so many thinking people left on earth and the democrats are aware they can't stop their mad leader from helping aliens take all their jobs. It's all about the money, not the morals.
If we go to space one day, find the reptilian home world, and those aliens attack, who is going to fight? Not the disarmed cockheads. It's time Putin and Trump work to make a space colony to put the feminists and radicals in, and they have their own country up there where they can do whatever they wish. Forget building walls, create these colonies and make it a reality tv show from the watching of the groups to see how people can survive in isolation away from thinking people.

It was either have WWIII to solve the jobs issue, (people die in those, freeing up resources..except for the elites of course with their underground cities) or deal with illegal immigrants so rednecks can save the white man from extinction as their kids become trannies to fit in with their community and avoid being a white heterosexual male that is hunted down like an animal and demonised on tv and movies and causes angry men to go on mass shooting after years of bullyingg from PC thugs.

Arrival

It's been a while since I've left the cinema feeling charged with emotion while trying to properly process what I just watched. Such a clever and powerful film that takes it's time to unravel it's secrets.. almost to the point where I felt a bit worried it wasn't going to make it in time.. but then when it actually all comes together.. it really leaves you with some quite deep and hard hitting questions that don't exactly need answering... it's more a challenging to ponder your acceptance of what you would answer.

Possibly my MOTY.

I left the cinema unsure of whether I actually liked it or not. I felt like it didn't really go anywhere and the revelations weren't that mind blowing.

Interstellar is the closest similar movie you can compare this to and even with some of the timey wimey stuff had a more satisfying payoff.

So yeah it was well done just not sure it was done well.

Swiss Army Man

Kind of stumbled upon this one accidentally, apparently it has some Internet notoriety as "the movie where Harry Potter plays a farting corpse". Whilst that is certainly true, I was surprised by the quality of this movie. It's equal parts hilarious and sad, and even though it's quite unique it reminded me of Where the Wild Things Are in a way. I loved the look of the film, and it's got some solid performances. Gives you something to think about amongst all the dick and fart jokes, and the ending's fucking fantastic. Check it out.

I've had this sitting, waiting to watch for a few weeks now. I've read very similar comments to the ones you've made. I'll make it my Christmas Eve movie this year

The montage song, aptly titled Montage is just sublime. If anyone wanted Swiss Army Man summed up in a montage, please enjoy.

The BFG

I went into this expecting it to be a bit rubbish. Hollywood hasn't been kind to my favourite childhood books (although I quite liked Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, fuck the haters), so my expectations were set pretty low.

I was pleasantly surprised. Yeah, it's a bit naff in places, they added some stuff I really don't remember, and they fiddled with the ending a bit. On the other hand, they really translated the giant's funny speech patterns into audio quite well. The way they made him sound like a confused old British coot worked quite well, I though.

The CGI was fantastic, but was really let down in the parts where they had to intermix it with real-world footage (like, most of the film). It just didn't mesh very well.

Overall though, I quite enjoyed it

Green Room.

Brilliant stuff. Tense. Thrilling. Exciting. It is the 2010's version of John Carpenter's Assault On Precint 13, and that is very high praise as Assault is a classic!

Avoid all spoilers for this film as you need to go in knowing as little as possible. Anton Yelchin will be sorely missed...

An easy 10/10. If I'd had seen it last year it would've been my no.1 film for 2016.

I'm so useless when it comes to movies these days.
I really like the X-Men movies, but I only just now got around to watching Days of Future Past, and holy shit that was amazing.

I watched this last year and wondered if Patrick Stewart had possibly gone broke and pissed off the hollywood jews and was forced to start his career all over again.

Unless you're talking about "Room", which probably was the 2016 moty. Or Tommy Wiseau's "The Room"...which is possibly the greatest movie ever made.

Each to their own I suppose.

No I'm definitely talking about Green Room. Was a brilliant film. And Patrick Stewart was damn good in it!

Another great film I saw was Don't Breathe. Another film that is best going in knowing as little as possible. It's another house invasion type film done brilliantly! Again if I'd seen it last year it would've gone close to being one of my top films for 2016!

Just got back from seeing Split. Brilliant. M.Night is definitely back and in a big way. Granted, I really enjoyed The Visit a fair bit, but Split is on a whole new level of incredible. And the twist/reveal is easily the best and most shocking I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing! It's a very easy 10/10 for this film. M.Night had his slump but he's back!

This was playing at JB when I was checking out the TV'S not long ago, no audio or anything and I was cracking up.
Decided to give it a watch the other day with the kids, they loved it and so did I!

I automatically wrote it off, am angry birds movie? Fuck that!
But it's one of the better animated movie I've seen.

Did I mention the trolls movie before?
I was trying to get out of this one, took the kids to see this at the cinema... Fucking loved it too!

No shit? I'm probably going to have to watch Trolls soon (nieces), glad to hear it won't be horrible! I was surprised by Angry Birds too, I haven't actually watched it all yet but caught bits and pieces over Christmas.

Yeah man, some of it gives me Tim Burton vibes and the rest is what I imagine an acid trip would be like (never tried It).

There's one scene in the Angry Birds Movie that had me cracking up, when they find the mighty eagle... So well done.

Arrival

I found it to be painfully slow. Also the way the movie creates its tension (avoiding clarity for spoilers) to me is dumb/predictable/super tired, in any movie that does it. Once it finally moved on from there and revealed its thing, I was very consciously wishing the film would just end. Couldn't wait to do something else. 6/10

Suicide Squad

Lollll

I'd heard it was bad, but I'd actually heard kind of "mixed bag" impressions. "Like it or hate it" sort of thing.

Lol no.

Suicide Squad is laughably terrible. It is so bad it's funny. Literally within 5 minutes you'll be tearing pieces out of it; literally 5 minutes. And there are so many parts where you just ask how on earth did they think it wouldn't be stupid to put that in. I don't really need to go into any specifics; there are just so many of them. The characters? The plot? The delivery? The soundtrack? Whatever angle you take, it is just funny bad.

And for me, that genuinely made it a more enjoyable watch. A friend I was watching it with was p***ing herself with laughter... AT the movie.

Saw Split:

8/10
Spoiler!
It's an interesting take on the DID/MPD thing, and it seems like the less money you give to him, the better the movies are.
It never explains how the main character got the personalities you are just expected to except he is mentally ill and that he has tapped into some force to let him be the personalities through will.

I think if there is going to be a sequel it will end up being origin story and the weird uncle character is the villain and the main character is some kind of anti hero that uses the power to inflict suffering onto people to make them "evolved and tough".

This is a movie that takes a serious theme (the mental illness which is caused by childhood trauma - AKA Trauma based mind control to tinfoilers who think the CIA and cults are involved in doing on subjects to make mind controlled soldiers) and adds in a supernatural element to it and puts in positive spin on it. (the creation of evolved beings who can do amazing things with their imagination)

Much like signs you are going to just have to expect that things do not have to have obvious explanation to them. You can think and fill in the blanks which is something I like about it. (eg does he become the characters he created inside him or do the characters "take over his body" and he is just the vessel for demonic force that uses his body to interact with the real world?) When you offer too much information it would make the movie less interesting so by making you think it forces you to come up with the answers/theories yourself.

And yes the ending was kinda cool. is it a shared universe to unbreakable or a joke? (like stan lee having to appear as background character in all the marvel movies) Maybe the two characters will meet up in a sequel?

I think a lot of religious cults engage in trauma based mind control to control their followers and like many M.Night movies this movie has religious theme to it. (the idea of "the light" and obtaining degrees of power to obtain control over others an nature etc)

maybe the sequel is there is one may explain the origin story of his mother who practices witchcraft or was the leader of some cult in her community and why she became abusive to her son and this fills in the gaps to explain how he is able to get demonic powers of animals? Perhaps his mom was the type of mom Bill Burr had growing up and this unleashed demonic force in the son? He created the Beast Character to deal with it and the demon granted him the wish and we find out he murdered his parents for revenge giving the powers to him in exchange for sacrificing his parents? The family curse then transfers to the son and he is the leader of his community cult and he kills all of them? The trauma then creates more split personalities until he gets to 24 after killing animals when he works at a zoo? The animal becomes his final persoanlity since it has more stength until he finds something more powerful than the Best personality? (next personality is Bruce Willis after he kills him) I think that would be a cool backstory.
Go see movie 2 times on tight arse tuesday.

Yep. Same moment for me Ambrose. At first I wasn't sure if they were being lazy re-using it, then I realized what was about to happen and was clutching the armrests.
