Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

Think of Anchorman. Then take out every catchphrase out of it (off the top of my head: I love lamp/ WHAMMY!/ I killed a man with a trident/ You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered with hair/ Afternoon Delight/ Would you like to come to my pants party?/ I'm in a glass case of emotion). Not as funny, is it?

6/10.

Its very good. Just wait untill you see his new one "Tom Yum Goong" or as its being released in the US as "The Protector". This one shits all over Ong Bak. It is one of the best kung fu movies i have ever seen as far as action goes.

THE DEPARTED

This movie was everything I feel has been missing in movies these days. This is a Scorsese mob flick that deserves to be mentioned alongside Goodfellas and that I feel is better than Casino. The characters are entirely believable and deep, the dialogue is witty and despite his age, Marty's blood-lust is as good as ever.

The performances were amazing all round. It actually makes me angry that I don't see any oscar nominations in this movie cast's future, due to the nature of the film.

I give The Departed 9 black dildo surprises out of 10.

Saw Little Miss Sunshine the other day, I really enjoyed it, great flick
Steve Carrell looked much skinnier in this than I've seen him too, was a bit odd but yeah, bit of a feel good film I suppose but has some great moments and you'll be laughing all the way through :)

I was trying to convince some of my friends to see Little Miss Sunshine. They all looked down upon it with sour faces :( I guess I'll be seeing it alone...

gonna check out The Departed on the weekend, i've read nothing but good things about it. For me its got a lot to live up too because i loved Infernal Affiars. I just hope i can enjoy it and try not to compare it to Infernal Affairs too much. Looking forward to seeing it.

I saw Invincible last weekend. It stars Marky Mark as Vince Papale, the native Philadelphian who attended the open tryouts held by the Philadelphia Eagles in the late 70s and made the team as a walk-on.

It's based off a true story, which seemed to have set the tone for the standard sports movie cliches that we all know and love. Despite that, the movie is still very fun to watch. I have to mention Greg Kinnear, super actor, who despite not looking like Dick Vermeil did a fantastic job with the speech inflections, mannerisms, expressions etc.

I'd give it 7 and a half sacks out of 10. Must-see if you're a fan of sports movies.

I went and saw the covenant. My friends tend to like shit films... they hated this one. Funnily enough, so did I. It felt like a pilot for a tv series. Don't see it, if anyone suggests it to you, punch them in the throat.

I went and saw this tonight. Really good movie. One of my mates who I went with had seen Internal Affairs and didn't know that The Departed was essentially a remake. He commented that it was pretty much the same despite a few character changes and twists. Fantastic film, but the Boston accent started to shit me after a while.

Tell me whether it's good or a drug trip caught on film, please.

And in the interests of the topic: saw V for Vendetta for the second time and it didn't hold up well. But if you do do repeated viewings, make sure that you miss the last 20 seconds. Those who've seen it know what I mean, and if you haven't seen it yet, you won't know you're in the last 20 seconds until you're there.

BTW: I went to a test screening of Boytown a couple of months ago and it's the same deal- YOU WILL HATE THE ENDING. THIS IS A WARNING.

Best movie I saw this wekend? Curious George. Seriously. And that's for 4-7 year olds, or people who love traditional animation.

Saw Children of Men tonight- great science fiction film, ruined by intellectual types trying to deconstruct in the cinema while the movie was on, and tittering during serious parts because they wanted to show that they understood. Dickheads.

See it, but don't see it in a cinema near a university. 7/10.

WITH A FUCKING PASSION! Such a fucking cop out.

I mean it was "funny" because of the "way" it happened, but it was like they wrote a movie without an ending. It really soured the film for me because the rest of it wasn't laugh out loud funny but it was smartly written. The ending was neither funny nor interesting, it just ruined the 90 minutes I'd enjoyed before.

Thumbs up if you leave after the ARIA's scene. Thumbs down for after it.

Oh yes, Boytown.

As I said, I went to this test screening a few montha ago. The first time the finished movie was shown. All of the people who were involved were in the row behind me, which was a bit of an arse, because you feel you have to laugh a bit more than you want to. The start wasn't that good- not giving anything away but you're having flashbacks and using the same actors and they still look the way they do now. But then you start to enjoy it, even laugh, and it builds up quite nicely.

And then they show that ending, and everyone stops laughing, like silent, and they don't start laughing again. In 5 minutes they went from a feelgood movie to something you hate with a passion- alone it would drop the whole movie about 2 grades. All because they couldn't think of an ending.

Children of Men

Has a grittiness that's very well done. Clive Owen is great as always, perhaps only surpassed by Michael Caine. There's this one long continuous take that goes for several minutes through a tonne of chaos that I found very impressive.

I give this movie 7 pulled fingers out of 10.

Crank

This film starts at a 100mph. It ends at 600mph. This movie does not stop with the action. Very original movie out for a long time and Jason does a awesome job. Different camera shots, scenes fastened up to do with his adrenelin, some very funny scenes in it. This is the no-brainer grab some popcorn mindless good action movie everybody wants and love. Pure Bloody Entertainment. One of the best movies i've seen this year.

9.0 Juice me out of 10.
