Ultimate Spider-Man is going to become a cartoon series. Seems Disney is hard at work getting this stuff onto the small screen. I approve.

I started reading Scott Pilgrim to see why they were making a movie and to see if it is awesome as everyone says it is.

It's awesome. I didn't think the comic would be so cool. So many nerdy video game references and the bizarreness of how amazing stuff happens but it's part of every day life. It just works so well. I love the conversational writing style. Reminds me a little of Bendis. The art style is great, it allows for the unbelievable to happen and not look out of place.

Smart funny comic. I love it.

I cannot wait to see the film, but am a little worried about how they are going to condense so much down into a single movie.

Finished reading The Sword by The Luna Brothers. I think it's some of their finest work, and the ending was just superb.

I would like to see some of their work transferred to the big screen. I think if they had a hand in their productions the films would be amazing.

Just read the first issue of The Expendables. I've been reading a lot of mid to late 90's Batman, so I'm used to Chuck Dixon's writing style. It's pretty bad arse, and I like it. Artwork is okay. You can kind of see who each character is meant to be based on. Although the art for the character Yin Yang barely looked Asian.

I think it might be best to wait for the Graphic Novel that will be released in July. Still written by Dixon, but it will have more to do with the upcoming film.

Jim Lee on Tyrese Gibson's Mayhem
I love his artwork for Batman and Superman... He makes Batman look so heroic and bold, and he makes Superman look like a god.

Just read the first issue of Y: The Last Man. Even after a single issue you can see how it would work as an awesome tv series. They need to make it stat.

Oh ffs

http://www.heatvisionblog.com/2010/06/m" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... ision.html

Jeph Loeb to head the Marvel TV department... in control of live action, animated, and straight to dvd.

I know I shouldn't bag him... he got Smallville back on track, he helped a fair bit in making Heroes good... just him fucking over the Ultimates universe leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. Yes I loved Superman/Batman, such a fun series... but you keep taking the styalistic movie world out of the Ultimates. You keep trying to make it generic Marvel!

lol I keep forgetting he wrote Teen Wolf, and did the story for Commando.

Just read Wonder Woman 600. I don't mind the costume change. I just wish we got more of the new story and less of writers and artists having a huge wank.

Borrowed three comics from the library the other day. The Dark Knight Returns, which I hadn't read in a while and is my favourite comic ever, Batman: Year One which I had never read before and it was great, it was cool seeing the bits that Batman Begins borrowed (like the swarm of bats coming to distract the cops, the ending where Gordon mentions Joker), and one called Batman: Rules of Engagement which has Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor trying to win a military contract. I didn't like that one anywhere near as much.

You should get your hands on the No Man's Land saga. It's pretty lengthy though... As in several years of comics. Basically Gotham is hit by a massive earthquake and the US government decides to border off Gotham (there is an actual reason for it). The city is divided into different sections by street gangs, GCPD, and several of Batman's villains.

Some of the story lines are really heavy and emotional.

The only real problem I guess is that it spans through different comics, Robin, Nightwing, Catwoman, a bit of Huntress, and the entire Batman comics.

But if you can find it, it's a pretty good read. Really comes up with some cool ideas for the Batman universe.

Apparently the novel I have cuts some things out:
In 2000, DC Comics published a novelization of No Man's Land written by Greg Rucka. The story features many of the same characters as the comic book arc. It also describes other members of the GCPD. The book does, however, omit the characters of Azrael and Superman, who were present throughout in the comics.

Finished reading Scott Pilgrim #6.

This may be a bit spoilery

The middle bit... with Gideon... I didn't really like it. The comic started in reality, and the reality was pretty good. When it back to all the video game references it felt a little empty. It was hard to understand what O'Malley was trying to say about Gideon and Ramona's relationship. All the other ex's made sense, there was much more silliness all over the place. Just the final issue didn't seem to be about the silliness and Scott's child like escapism. I liked the start of the comic, and the end was okay, just the middle bit was a bit flat for me.

I dunno... I think I just liked the realistic bits over the escapist bits. For this issue.
