Do you mean the Ultimate Vision Back up stories that was running through the 3 core titles last year? Or the one coming out at the end of this year?

I think it was on the back of Ulitmate Spider-man, Fantastic Four and X-men.

I gave up on Ulitmate Extinction half way through.

Yeah it was a little underwhelming. I am looking forward to the upcoming Spider-Man: Reign. It looks interesting especially coming out in the Marvel Knights imprint

I just bought the printed versions of Funny Farm and Men in Hats.

Online comics are my favourite things on the intertron (aside from porn, I guess), and it's good to have a hard copy of them that I can read in bed

I got marvel zombies as a hardcover book today, $40. At the same time I also picked up a variant of issue #1 featuring the cover done by june chung. i.e. This issue. I figured it'd be worth having and it was only an extra $2 with the purchase of the hardcover.

Earlier this week I also got Friday the 13th:Jason vs Jason X part 2 of 2, it was worth it for the examples and poses of gory art but I dont think I will be too bothered if part 1 isn't in store on monday. Not _THAT_ keen to track it down. Another purchase on the same day was Ultimate fantastic four issues 30 and 31(frightful part 1&2 of 3), which was more in anticipation of marvel zombies than me genuinely wanting it but at the very least i'll pick up the 3rd and final part of 'frightful'....is this going to be the final appearance of marvel zombies in UFF?

Hmmm, well the conclusion to marvel zombies fell apart a bit, but as is the nature of a zombie story. Zombie conclusions are never good, its hard to wrap up a problem that has been so shocking and unsolvable in the earlier parts of the story.

The hardcover book is so snazzy and shiny I am definately getting as many of the marvel zombie issues as I can so I dont have to ruin it when I draw from it.

All in all I'm happy with my purchase.

Here's my current standing order:

DC
*52
*Justice League of America (restart)

Vertigo
*Y: The Last Man (if you're not reading this, start now!)

Marvel
*Ultimate Spider-man
*The Punisher (getting old, even though Ennis is writing again, there's not that much left to do with Frank Castle)

Image
*The Walking Dead (best zombie comic ever, check out the trades)
*Invincible
*Shadowhawk
*Emissary (what would happen if a superhero existed in the real world? Aussie Jason Rand apparently will no longer be writing this, which is a shame)
*Rex Mundi

Another slow crappy week this week. Thats 3 in a row. That means that next week and the week after will be huge. HUGE!

I think I will take this week to re-read some of my back issues. I want to catch up on some of the Jiminez Wonder Womans and Queen and country again.

Slow week?

We have an Ultimate Fantastic Four Annual coming out. Return Of The Mole Man! He was always such a pissweak character in the standard U...

From DC we have:

Boys - written by Garth Ennis drawn by Darick Robertson
a dark, twisted look at super powers, super-people, and the men and women who make sure the world's 'heroes' never go too far. With a quarter-million super-powered beings in the world, someone's got to watch what's going on beneath all those masks and capes. In a U.S.A. uncomfortably like our own, that task falls to The Boys, a government-funded group of operatives dedicated to keeping the 'supes' in line. Team leader Billy Butcher, described by a confidential C.I.A. report as 'the most lethal individual ever encountered by this agency,' is on the hunt for new recruits - but it takes something special to join this outfit. You have to be smart. You have to be strong. And you have to hate supes with every ounce of black passion in your heart.
I'll try the first issue I think.

Deadman # 1. Another reimagining of a DC hero... so far some of these comics have been a abit of a dud. Wha? Brandon Cayce, a pilot? Bah... He should be Boston Brand damnit. Even if you give him a different job, at least keep the name... oh well.

Marvel:

CLAWS #1
Shanghaied and transported to a remote desert island, Wolverine and the Black Cat find themselves at the center of a deadly game. A team of filthy-rich hunters have slapped down some serious cash for the opportunity to hunt the Most Dangerous Prey on the Planet - and they've got the high-tech weapons to do just that. Like it or not, the key to Logan and Felicia's survival just might be their ability to cooperate long enough to evade their hunters and uncover the identity of the deadly ringmaster. Brought to you by the team of Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray and superstar artist Joe Linsner
Could be okay for a short series.

Ultimate Fantattic Four #32 is out :D ZOMBIES!!!!

From other publishers...

Transformers Beastwars TP. The entire Gathering series in a nice neat collection :) I bought the first issue of this and even though I enjoyed it, I didn't feel like spending the hard cash on an ongoing series. But after watching the first two seasons of Beastwars, I think I might pick this one up.

I bought the first 2 parts of Zombies feast today. The printing is fucking high quality. One cool thing is that all 5 covers connect to form a large image done by the same guy who did the land of the dead movie art. On the net and at the shop they say the next part isn't out yet but the ones I have are dated may and june so i'd expect july to be out already - hope its still on the way.

Let me also just say 100 bullets is the best, I read a bunch more of my mates copies. any fan of pulp fiction, snatch and other movies in that flavour should get it whether they like comics or not. Fucking A

Transformers Stormbringer issue 2 is out now. Things are heating up considerably! I am sooooooo glad they brought back one of my favourite characters from the Marvel comic series (Thunderwing, who is a total badass!). Well worth a pickup if you see it!

Actually, speaking of Transformers, the new IDW series (Infiltration) is a huge letdown. Especially when you consider that it is a replacement for Dreamwaves series.

Ultimate Spidey Annual 2 is great, and hints at a Marvel Knights style collaboration between Daredevil, Spidey, Punisher and MoonKnight.

Moonknight 4 continues the tradition of excellent artwork and slow pacing. Worth a read if you want to see how they revamp a very obvious Batman knock off (albeit, SLOWLY).

I emailed IDW and they apologized for the gap and said Zombies: Feast is back in production. Issue #3 is out in USA on wednesday, issue #4 comes out a month later and issue #5 has just started printing this week.

I got Ultimate Fantastic Four #32 and Annual #2 yesterday.
UFF32 was cool, I liked the way it ended but like most marvel I felt it zipped thru the conclusion a bit too fast. That "FF save the world" Panel should've come maybe a page later and cut into the unnecasary 'wrap up' pages. I especially like the drawings of zombie Sue, you can see that its her beautiful face behind all that decay - not just a cadavre with boobs as female zombies sometimes end up like.
UFF Annual #2 was cool, I've never seen the mole man b4 so i dont have much to compare it by. It was an enjoyable read but when I think of how much cooler Dr Doom is, I wish the annual had included him in some way.

The goon issue #1 is available for free online

On the note of comics on the computer, any of you into canadian comics? I've only just discovered they existed, and on my dial up its not easy to get a full set of something - but they give me a good idea of whats out there to help decide on a purchase. Comics are luckily one area where the real thing makes piracy redundant, not the other way around. paper > computer screen.

oh hell's yeah. Paper > Screen any day of the week.

But yeah, I look to Canada now and then for my comics. Mostly the older stuff or a bit of a series I have missed.

Okay, I just read the first issue of the new wonder woman. WTF?! That comic is awesome. Donna Troy, Dianna Troy and now Dianna Prince. Oh man this is great. I am going to have to get my hands on the infinite crisis, and 52 and wotnot. I missed too much with this reboot.

I think 52 #14 (around that week anyway) has given the run down on Wonder Woman for the "New Earth"

This week in comics:

From DC we have Snakes On A Plane #1. I shit you not.

Fucking yes! All Star Superman #5. I am getting sick of how long these all star comics are taking. They are almost as slow as the Ultimates series.

From Marvel:

this could be interesting. Mythos Hulk - Written by Paul Jenkins Painted by Paolo Rivera A fully-painted retelling of the origin and earliest days of the gamma-powered titan, updated and reimagined by Paul Jenkins and PaoloRivera!

Other publishers... I apologise for not knowing all the companies.

Battlestar Galactica #1, apparently there was an issue 0. I hate that crap.... But the good thing is #0 is only $1!

Softcover version of Bruce Campbell's autobiographical novel is out too. Make Love The Bruce Campbell Way.

Hey what is the whole ultimates thing about? From reading UFF I have gathered it is a marvel universe with the storylines slightly altered so the different heroes are more cohesive and interactive with eachothers worlds - also in general there is a feeling it has more in common with the modern world. On an art level they seem to be trying to compete with the newer school of comics like image and dark horse in which the big guys are much more anatomical with actual theory behind the exagerated muscles(not just a bulgey mass that is 'guessed') and the girls more seductive in their poses.

Is there a bigger fundamental of the ultimates universe I am missing?

It's like marvel but for real people.

I tend to find the world and characters a lot more real. That is my take on it.

Like Ultimate Spiderman, he is a 15 year old kid who suddenly has to take on so damn much. Peter is written so much like a 15 year old boy it scares me. The language used is brilliant.

Ultimates is set in a verty real and gritty world.

It all just seems more real. You can kind of connect with everything better.

Basically any book with the "Ultimate" tag line is a "reimaging of classic characters in today's world" so a few things have been changed like being bitten by a genetically modified spider instead of a radioactive spider.
