I went to a 90 minute Bikram Yoga session this morning. Then I came home, lay on the couch and watched movies all day. Knackered.

I just lifted heavy weights for 45 minutes and ate lots of food all day. Yum.

Only did a 40 minute/ 8k run today.
A few niggling injuries, but feeling good about the two half marathons I'm doing this year (Gold Coast in a week and a half and Recliffe Jetty to Jetty in 3 and a half weeks).
I expect under two hours on both. I'll be gutted with anything over.
My long runs I've been hitting 18k in 100minutes.

I'm sick and resting for the moment. Stupid cold thingy. I was all pumped to do Chest shoulders triceps today.. argh.

One of my clients is doing the Gold Coast half marathon.. We've been training her up to do a marathon and so far she is hammering it.

Eh. Sometimes illness can be a disguised blessing forcing you to get the rest you deserve. Then you smash it when you get back.
I'll be starting with the two hour balloon and sticking with it till at least an hour, then running off it. I'm running with 5-6 other folks from all around (my soccer club, work, running buddies). I'm the big doofus in the black jumper. Then when I tear it off I'll be pulling archer pose for all my new fans! :P
If your client is running ~2 hours, tell her to say hi.

Oh dear. 'The Super Elixir' endorsed by Elle McPherson. Only $145 for 300g. As Dr Simone explains The Super Elixir is 'an organic bioavailable alkalising greens powder which can assist the tissues to turn from acidic to alkaline'.

Yep, just another fantastic product designed to help your wallet lose weight.

Me, I'll just stick to what works - lift heavy weights, use cardio sparingly and eat the shit out of good food.

Peppermint Lounge wrote:Further to that an example. By 1991 Carl Lewis was a full vegan. At the 1991 world championships he clocked the then world record in winning the 100m final. Carl Lewis calls the '91 world championships his best meet ever and attributes it to his diet. He's still a vegan.

Not doubting omnivorous diets deliver but I don't agree vego/vegan diets are sub-optimal.
Catching up on this thread. While the above is certainly true it would be remiss not to mention Carl Lewis at the time denied using any performance enhancing substances. Not a single one. Full natty along with all the other elite track athletes who didn't return positive tests. Believe them and their sponsors when they say PEDs are not standard procedure among star athletes then or now.

Got another DEXA done recently. 2.5kg muscle up, 1.5kg fat down in 43 days.

Due for another scan next week, after that probably November to see how I'm tracking heading into December.

You'd be surprised how close to the mark you are. Once you're hooked you're hooked for life and you want to keep bettering yourself.

People talk about wanting to reach their goals.....except if they stick with it they eventually discover that your goals continue to be reset and you push for more.

When I started this thread, you think I wanted to be a sports nutritionist who owns a gym? Never even crossed my mind, yet here we are.

Pepp, watch this space.....

I know it's close to the mark. If there's no real tangible benefit I wonder why people devote so much time, money and effort for improvements that no one will notice/has no bearing on anything. I realised after I posted that you're practically conducting your own research into which methods work best, and that will get passed onto your clients. So yes I've realised there is a real benefit in doing so in your case.

There are a number of tangible benefits; functional strength (which becomes more paramount as we age), increased immune function, increased athletic ability, increased metabolic function, increased bone density, increased energy levels, better sleep, no diabetes. I could sit here a while longer and run a list off, and there's plenty more before I even get to "look your absolute best".

There's also the part where if you do something for a living you better set a good example. With what I do, the better example I set, the more money I make. Very simple. Better shape = bigger bank account.
