Nope. :P I try not to buy brand new clothes, and when I do I try and get something that doesn't have a noticable logo or something on it. Shoes aren't something I'm willing to get second hand, but I just get something that does the job and doesn't look like shit. I drop a bit of cash on skate shoes from time to time, but you really do shred your shoes to pieces in a week if you wear normal ones, so the expenditure is justified.

I don't mind those goggles. Like you say, ridiculous, yet awesome.

So Oakley have finally released something in line with what made them fuckawesome in the late 90's.

I'm still wearing my original Mars. I have other glasses but nothing fits and keeps out the sun like Mars. And they are as rare as fuck. Strangers regularly still feel the need to say how awesome they look..and I've had them since 1999 (I found the receipt). I don't want the attention...but you know how it is.

The Mars won't be retired. I'm sitting on two pairs...so that's my main sunglass frame for the rest of my life. But today I ordered the latest X Metals called Madman in a tungsten flavoured lens. I had to have them. They're the spiritual successor to Mars. They look awesome, cost too much and should last twenty years (with replacement lenses). Also, I'm selling a pair of used OG X Metal Romeo (1st Edition) on Ebay for around $800 if you're interested.

I present for your consideration, Oakley Madman, plasma frame, tungsten iridium polarised lens. Not for the weak. Servo sunnies buyers, look away.

the fuck is with that ad?

I'm still rocking a cheapish ($80) pair of BBB cycling glasses I got back in '05. Back when $80 for a pair of sunnies was an extravagance I could barely afford. Heh.

I bought a pair of custom made Oakleys back in August for around $280, polarized lens with custom etching on one. Couldn't find them in any of the Oakley specialists around town so opted for ordering. Nothing really special and a tad different from the wrap arounds I usually wear.

Man, Oakley went through a completely uninspired period for at least the last ten years. I have noticed them moving back toward their Eye Jacket and E-Wire style of the late nineties when they were pumping out some awesome designs. Are the ones you've pictured Flak Jackets? Did you go for the normal or the polarised lens? If you don't know, hold them up to your screen and turn them slowly clockwise. If they're polarised, they'll seem to blacken at a certain point. Anyway, yours and the ones I just ordered show a move back to the traditional Oakley design. I like it. It's been 16 years since I've found a pair of frames that I'd consider wearing instead of Mars.

Ha...dude just offered me $500 up front for the X Metal Romeo I have on Ebay. I knocked him back. I bought them in 97 for $399.

Does that mean the polarisation is in an upcoming patch?

Just installed new polarised turquoise reflective on brown lenses and new custom olive drab rubber parts on my Mars. They look fucking awesome and the lenses are the best 3rd party lenses I've used yet.Image

That is cheap really, I would think they'd cost more when they were "new"? I can remember seeing them in shops.
Rayban man myself. Onto my 2nd pair in 7 years, keep em in a case at home, and another case at work :D. Have had several drunken nights out with em hanging off my collar and never lost em. Gotta be careful with the taxi seatbelt latching onto them and picking em up when you take it off!

Yeah they're still around $280 retail. TBH I don't need these. I am just an absolute sucker for round lens Oakleys. And these are so petite.

2 pairs in 7 years isn't bad. Are they a glass lens? I have an original pair of RayBan Orbs Bosch and Lomb lenses, made when Rayban were their own company and not owned by that huge Italian conglomerate. Made in the U.S. Oakley are owned by the same group now, I think.

If it's a competition, I'm winning though. Those Mars posted above are in their 17th year of everyday use. True I use replacement lenses, but I have the originals and they're in a superb state. I obviously buy other Oakleys, but I don't tend to wear them. I'd say in all honesty, I wear those Mars 360 days in the year. Every year. Regardless of how bright or dim the day may be. And I own a brand new pair to step in if necessary.

Just got these from Catch of the day...90 bucks. Cheap as, and while I don't really wear plastic frames they were too good to pass up. I've never had pink Oakley lenses and a camo frame just sealed the deal. The only downside is they're not polarised but that's no big deal...got plenty of polarised lenses anyway.
