I bought Unicorn for $100 but they are not the same as all the old ones when they were metal.Ben wrote:Marketing this is going to be interesting, as Bay has said that the first time you see the Transformers, it's going to be on the movie screen...
I guess that might end up being true for Americans but for every other country I reckon it'll probably be a different story.
I wonder how the toy pricing will go too, if they are going to be hell elaborate and big they're going to be exxy too. Mind you the most I've paid for a TF toy was about $60~ for the MP UltraMagnus and underneath that $50 for the Beast Wars Rampage, but I've seen some of the gigantic ones prices recently and they're $100+
Oh well, I think we can revel that the toys are probably going to be fucking wicked nonetheless.

I only ever bought the US Rhino release. I've been meaning to get around to ordering the Reconstructed UK release one of these days. I do believe there's yet another US release coming on top of this 20th anniversary edition.
Gotta catch 'em all! And I will.
I'm like you Chaos regarding all the US DVDs, though I haven't ordered Beast Machines yet.
Out of interest I suppose you've picked this gem up?

haha, Inferno was great, I've still got my Beast War toy of him too..
All this talk of Beast Wars again has got me keen to hunt for the series.. how many Beast Wars seasons were there before they hit Transmetals?
edit: ah just the 3 seasons, and fark it's 10 years old already?! I completely forgot about rushing home after school to catch the episodes... in primary school!
edit: oh transmetals was still within beast wars... and beast machines followed..

Im not overly happy with that lineup. for Jazz, for Bumblebee (he annoys me, but he is supposed to be a Camaro in the movie so maybe his uselessness will drop some). And who the fuck are Barricade and Blackout? To my knowledge they werent G1.
So its 8 Decepticons vs 5 Autobots. The numerical advantage is with the Deceps, but we all know they will still get pwned

From what I understand they were going to make it into 3 movies. You won't see sound wave in the first movie.
-Reimagining.
-robots don't look like the alternators in style but take on a much more Lego Bionicle skeletal look. (whether this is a good or bad thing I don't know. They do at least have a more menacing alien look to them)
-someone has read the script and says it's actually pretty good. Megatron is much more insulting and scary than the cartoon and comic one.
-Armageddon was an ok movie in my book so I will give Bay a chance. (my expectations for live action are usually set low though - they should have went 100% CG like the Final Fantasy movie if they want to make fans happy)

This is what I am thinking, if you aren't doing Gen 1, then don't have gen 1 characters. Have Optimus, and have Megatron, but pay attention to the cartoon shows. Don't fuck with the timelines. Even the dodgey arsed jap shows are staying in the correct timelines. Set it in the future for christsake.
I just think, if you are going to set it in a gen 1 timeline then set it in the 80's and use the correct models.
If you are making your own thing, then don't mess with a very well established timeline and history.
