I retract my "oh fuck"...I may have become appalled too early. The swing may be real.

Penny Wong went on ABC tonight expecting to gloat in victory for 3 hours. Instead she is sitting there blaming everyone else except her own party for blowing this election....
Watching the ABC is currently like watching a wake

I turned to channel 10 late at one point.
Waleed Aly and Christopher Pine. What a train wreck.
Waleed was in his parallel universe rambling on about how this was a good night for Labor.

Re: Up the Mighty Liberals! #inmalcolmwetrust
There was a video of him running ages ago, probably in the early stages of him being the opposition leader, and his running style was pretty embarrassing. He was completely limp-wristed and it looked like he'd never done anything remotely physical in his life prior to his new position.
His running style now looks like he's over-compensating.

Fraser Anning is gone, that's the best news, followed by Clive Palmer failing to buy his way into Parliament (at least I think that's confirmed) and Tony Abbott losing his own seat
The worst is that Malcolm Roberts is back. Fucking Queenslanders. Queensland = the deep south of America transplanted to Australia confirmed. As if that was ever in doubt

Surprising result, Morrison seals his name in the history books and becomes the Shire's first PM.
Labor.
Labor need to stop being the Greens and be the party for working middle class people. Way to heavy on division politics, too much lefty socialist SJW nonsense that average people who are hard working don't care for.

Re: Up the Mighty Liberals! #inmalcolmwetrust
Palmer did what he wanted, he never wanted a seat in parliament, his aim was stopping Labour getting in. So his investment paid off.
But he has only done what the ACTU and the getup groups have done, spent millions of dollars to get who they want into parliament.

I personally think getting rid of negative gearing and franking credit handouts and using public money to fund daycare for working low and mid income middle class families is exactly that.lestat wrote:Surprising result, Morrison seals his name in the history books and becomes the Shire's first PM.

I was surprised to see people I know post YouTube clips and articles on their social media from partisan types about Labor’s SJW ‘gender agenda’. It was all scare and misinformation not far off the rant Kerri Anne Kennerley was allowed to broadcast on the eve of the election.

Lol....many of Palmer's lies
Re: Up the Mighty Liberals! #inmalcolmwetrust
Childcare subsidies already cover nearly all fees up to middle income/high middle income. Any increases in the government input here just gets soaked up by the providers, golden eggs. What more are they going to do that's not done already?Peppermint Lounge wrote:I personally think getting rid of negative gearing and franking credit handouts and using public money to fund daycare for working low and mid income middle class families is exactly that.lestat wrote:Surprising result, Morrison seals his name in the history books and becomes the Shire's first PM.

Franking credits are not a hand out and if you do think they are a handout then they qualify as a handout to people paying no tax - either retirees or people out of work/low income so not sure how that helps them by putting them at even more disadvantage.
Labor's class warfare throwback actually burnt them the most, pushing for penalty rates that would put their own members out of work, pushing to shut down entire industries and putting their own members out of work etc is what screwed them. I've never seen a photo op on a campaign where on worksites people having refused to shake the labor leaders hand or ask him tough questions, landscape changed. Labors issue now is that they kept moving left because they need the Green preferences to win seats in most places so if they move away from them they then have the issue of where are they going to get the votes from? Well they have to pull enough people from the minor parties greens etc and liberals and that's tough with the moderates about to be sidelined again.
It takes a special mixture of poor policies to lose this election lol
Vzzzbx, you lose again!

Re: Up the Mighty Liberals! #inmalcolmwetrust
Ahh but these are things only the top end of town enjoy, the pesky middle class doesn't invest or plan for their future apparently.Peppermint Lounge wrote: I personally think getting rid of negative gearing and franking credit handouts and using public money to fund daycare for working low and mid income middle class families is exactly that.
Put it simply, people work hard/save and plan around current tax rules, since the introduction of compulsory super we are expected to look after ourselves in our retirement because the government sure as shit wont now. So lets destroy all the mechanism around investment that allowed people to achieve those goals. It's not enough to just own your home by retirement knowing you'd be looked after by pensions in retirement.
This is why labor face planted, you mess with peoples savings/investments and livelihood don't expect their vote.
Also government childcare is already pretty generous with the rebates. As you can see with the budget spend, payments for childcare payments and costing has gone up every year. This is already a growing expenditure in the liberal budget.
https://www.aph.gov.au/About_Parliament ... elfareCost" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;According to the PBO, expenditure on child care will also grow from 0.4 per cent of GDP in 2014–15 to 0.7 per cent in 2025–26 (from $6 billion to $20 billion) as a result of the Government’s proposed child care package.

Re: Up the Mighty Liberals! #inmalcolmwetrust
Well boys when Howard and Costello decided to send dividend imputation cheques to shareholders who were untaxed it cost the budget $550 million. It's up to $5 billion now and is on track for $8 billion in the near future. What does it have to get to before you agree legislators will have to start 'messing with people's savings and livelihoods'? What the election reaffirms is once you open a loophole it's very hard to even reign it in let alone close it.

Check how much One Nation and Palmer preferences assisted the Coalition’s demolition of Labor in QLD.
