I agree. The people of Brisbane are sick and tired of Labor's incompetence.

Campbell Newman is a cockhead. The guy is just a complete jerk arse.

He gets in saying that he isn't going to make a tunnel because it is too expensive, and is currently building an even bigger tunnel that costs more than the original tunnel and hasn't actually told us the final figures. Fantastic.

Wasn't his whole election campaign based on building tunnels? - http://extraonline.com.au/stories/story/9689.html

You'd prefer tunnels above the city?

A week before the last elections Labor put in a bus lane on bowen bridge road. Very smart idea, much needed. When dickface won, he immediately removed the buslane, he put it back about 2 weeks later. Fantastic use of tax payers money and a great way to really screw with traffic on a highly busy bit of road.

Labor had suggested a 3 tunnel system. Fuckstain said it was a waste of money. When things looked bad, he said he would do a 5 tunnel system. People were excited by the tunnels... because something needs to be done about it.

It's now just one mega tunnel... that costs more than the 5 tunnel system. Waaaaaay more. Also, he still hasn't mentioned how much more.

At the end of the day both sides are just secretly copying each others ideas so it makes little difference.
This is why we need futuristic hovercars so there is less congestion. Fly above things.

In other news, the longest serving Labor Government, led by Townsville Mayor Tony Mooney, got absolutely smashed last night.

A clear message to Bligh & Krudd.

The tunnel is going to be payed for by private enterprise, duh. from there it could be handed back to the government when it's paid for itself or it could be operated by the government or any number of arrangements.

but in the current climate the government is unlikely to spend any of its surplusess on infrastructure. for whatever reason. it seems to be a worldwide trend at the moment to get private enterprise to pay.

Why? It's a Local Council election. It, even less than state politics, has almost zero bearing on how people vote at the Federal level. Only idiots constantly tow the party line; I'm seriously considering voting Liberal at the next state election (I probably won't though, as at the moment, they seem to be all about making mountains out of molehills - "ooh, a tram derailed! The Minister for Transport has to resign!!1")

Of course, it all depends on their policies and image as well. If the Libs can't fund their electric train network that they're probably going to promise, then I won't vote for them. On the other hand, Labor has tabled plans to extend (create, to be honest) the tram network, which is pretty sorely needed.

Now, if Labor can't deliver on its promises at the State level, then what bearing does that have on my opinion of the Federal government?

...nothing...

...and what bearing does my opinion of the Federal government have on how I vote at the state election?

...nothing...

Exactly.

I'll probably vote Liberal in the next Vic election because otherwise certain vital things (e.g. public transport) will not change. This depends on the Libs' platform, obviously.

I think Newman sums it up best -

Quote:
I only say that the message in it for political parties of all descriptions - but particularly the Liberal Party - is if you have a good strong team, if you have great policies, if you have discipline and you really conduct yourself the right way in the campaign, you can win elections - and that's what we did.

You should also look at the states for how many people didn't vote. It was something like 1/3. People weren't even aware there was an election on.

It's pretty funny really. There was Cockface Newman with his Can Do Team, and that was pretty much it. Zero input from Labor. The only real reason I knew who was running for labor was because they did a flyer drop in my street and I happened to have gotten home early from work that day.

The man talks sense - you should listen to him. Notice how he didn't even campaign under the Liberal banner though?
