Fuck, I didn't even realise he was sick I mean I remember seeing articles about his weight loss, but thought it was for a movie role.

I'm so excited. I'm not ashamed to admit that I nearly cried with joy while watching that on my phone in the work cafeteria today

Re: The Movie News Thread - new Trek rules, Man of Steel in
Yeah I'm psyched for Dune, I can't remember the last time I was actually looking forward to an upcoming movie this much. I've heard Tenet is really good, wouldn't mind checking it out. It was described to me by a friend who's already seen it three times as "Primer but with a budget". Sold.
Meanwhile, I'm so fucking sick of copping social media posts about boycotting Mulan. There's this strange assumption that everyone's super keen to watch it, but we must restrain ourselves because X/Y/Z. How about just not watching it because it's doubtlessly a pile of shit? No need to pretend you're taking a stand against the CCP.

Reading Dune for the first time atm. Have never seen the old movie, played the games or anything, so it's all new for me.

Dune is right alongside Blade Runner as my all-time fav sci-fi.
I actually liked the original movie (especially the extended edition) plus the 2000 mini-series that everyone shits all over.

Re: The Movie News Thread - new Trek rules, Man of Steel in
I thought the miniseries was ok. I tried to watch the original film the other night, and I just wanted to neck myself. The casting, the costumes, the dialogue, the sfx, the changed plot points...
Look, it's not a stretch to say that the novel changed my life when I first read it. There was a few years where I could have recited large portions of it word-for-word. The movie then, was a complete letdown. Even when they got one aspect of it right, the rest of the scene ruined it. Ughhhhh.

SourceAndrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Kirsten Dunst will reportedly reprise their former Spider-Man movie roles, according to Collider.
The Hollywood Reporter originally broke the news that Alfred Molina will return to his role as Doctor Otto Octavius, aka Doctor Octopus, in Spider-Man 3 starring Tom Holland, but Collider added in their report that "Kirsten Dunst will return as MJ" and that "Andrew Garfield will be back." Collider also said that Maguire will be back as well if Sony and Marvel can close that deal.
Maguire played Peter Parker and Spider-Man in 2002's Spider-Man, 2004's Spider-Man 2, which featured Molina as Otto Octavius, and 2007's Spider-Man 3. Garfield played Peter Parker and Spider-Man in 2012's The Amazing Spider-Man and in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Dunst played MJ in all three of the Maguire Spider-Man movies.
Spiderman 2 is one of my favourites (I still have the UMD that came with my PSP ). Can't wait to see what they do with this.

Re: The Movie News Thread - new Trek rules, Man of Steel in
Into the Spiderverse was exceptionally well done, if they can pull off the same kind of vibe as that film in addition to introducing Morales to the MCU, it could eclipse Marvel's recent efforts. The could also start laying the groundwork for Hardy's Venom to enter the greater Spider-Man/MCU. I'm not a huge Spider-Man/Marvel fan the same way I love the DC universe but their recent movie efforts at universe building have been spot on.

I had to lol at the:
"It's a birth mark."
"What do you mean?"
"He was born with it."
Does look fun though. The way it clearly cashes in on the classic characters and lines (and that is surely a deliberate fatality scene)... works for me.

Oh yes, finished it a while ago. Was good. Not sure if I should read all of the sequels though. There seems to be many.
In other news, SNYDER CUT!!!
https://www.ign.com/articles/zack-snyde ... gue-reviewZack Snyder’s Justice League is a surprise vindication for the director and the fans that believed in his vision. With a mature approach to its superhero drama, better-realized antagonists, and improved action, Snyder’s version of Justice League saves the movie from the dustbin of history, something that likely only could’ve happened on a streaming platform like HBO Max. Though not every addition feels totally necessary, and some new visual effects stick out as unpolished, it's hard to overstate how much more enjoyable this version of Justice League is.
The Theatrical Cut is dead. Long live The Snyder Cut. 8/10

I'll sign up to Binge to watch the Snyder Cut. 4 hours, lol. I still haven't watched the theatrical release.
Re: The Movie News Thread - new Trek rules, Man of Steel in
Mmm they definitely weren't as good as the original. I was in my teens when I read them, and I remember the 2nd and 3rd felt ok enough; not really comparable to the first but still decent. But after that it just got harder to stay interested... I'm pretty sure I had to drag myself through the 6th.Ambrose Burnside wrote: ↑16 Mar 2021 09:45 amOh yes, finished it a while ago. Was good. But those memories are a) old, b) from a teen, and c) memories of a subjective and vague feeling rather than actual content or story.
So with that large grain of salt I'd suggest trying them if the interest is for more of the first's universe, but not trying them if the interest is only for more of the first's greatness.

yeah... I think the original novel is more beautiful than life itself, but the rest of the series... not so much.

Interesting. I didn't mind The Force Awakens but the next two movies I honestly don't remember much except the fight with sooky boy, dusty girl and Snook. I do like the idea of a 30 Part Series spread over 3 seasons and I do find it interesting that there is 10 min footage of Leia, Han and Luke reuniting but was never used.
Still, Disney admitting that they done fucked up is one thing, but more cash involved and more licensed games, toys, merchandise will soon cheer them up.

Not sure I trust Disney with the core series. They were clearly just making shit up as they went along, and they can't just erase those films.
On the other hand, they've done spectacularly well with the spin-off stuff. Solo and Rogue One were great, and The Mandalorian is a real breath of fresh air. I feel that all the further spin-offs from this will oversaturate the market though..

It's crazy how differently the MCU and Star Wars have been handled by the same company.unfnknblvbl wrote: ↑05 Aug 2021 06:21 pm Not sure I trust Disney with the core series. They were clearly just making shit up as they went along, and they can't just erase those films.

Re: The Movie News Thread - new Trek rules, Man of Steel in June
No Laurence Fishburne is a shame. Morpheus such a pivotal piece of the original movie. The character kind of went south for me in the early sequels though.
