If they didn't detect him being RIGHT FUCKING THERE as Chancellor in the prequels, it's not a huge stretch to imagine him being able to hide out all these years.

Yoda and Obi-Wan got away with it too.

Star Wars has long established the Jedi as being, well, pretty shit at their jobs

Well, if Leia can resurrect herself in space and then fly back into her ship like Mary Poppins, I can fully buy into Palpatine being there the whole time. He probably just wore glasses on his ID pic and identified himself as gender neutral. That would certainly fit in with the direction Star Wars has gone.

Much like how Episode 8 surprised us by turning Luke Skywalker into a fuckwit who tosses his lightsaber away, maybe the big reveal scene of Palpatine in Episode 9 can be him declaring how offended he is that the Jedi assumed his gender.

You've bought this shit and you're calling the haters nutters? really? Actually, it says a lot...about you.

The Last Jedi was embarrassing. And you defend it. That's a fucking nutter if I've ever seen one.

I haven't defended all of it, I've said multiple times that space Leia was the dumbest thing ever, amongst other things I didn't like.

What I haven't done is ignore the very same plot holes from the prequels and OT that rile people up about Last Jedi. Or jump up and down about AsSuMiNg GeNdEr and other batshit batshittery.

Unless you include the bit in Return of the Jedi when Leia disguised herself as a dude. But that's ok cos it was the OT :P

It's just the over the top crazy hate I point and laugh at :P

Boba Fett and Brienne of Tarth are basically the same character, as incompetent as each other (ignoring whatever Fett does in the books etc, just what's on screen) but it's only Brienne that gets torn to shreds online because everyone seems to forget a blind cripple accidentally knocked the galaxy's most fearsome bounty hunter into a hole in the ground lol

Oh well. I still bet you're all going to see it.

PS: I finally saw Solo earlier this year. Did not like.

Rogue One is easily the best of the Disney Star Wars movies.

People will hate these movies for myriad reasons. I did not see Solo and won't bother with the next one. I'm not interested after how bad TLJ was.

If I do relent, it'll be when it's uploaded to YIFY. I won't pay for it. But so far I still haven't bothered with Solo and I'm sure it's out by now.

I did not like Rogue One but I didn't mind TFA.

I'll happily moonwalk this one back if the reception for Episode 9 is, at least, as positive as Episode 7 because that movie was fantastic.

The pandering to social justice warrior minorities is far from the only issue with Episode 8.

It's funny how outraged the nerds were with the prequels. Yet all we had to bitch about was shit kid actors, shit Hayden Christinson actors, latent racism and Jar Jar Binks. I'd take all of that in a heartbeat over the drek that was served up in Ep 8.

Who said she was a dude? You only assumed that because you didn't realise it was Leia the first time you saw the movie till the reveal. There are female Bounty Hunters you know.

3PO said so. "Because he's holding a thermal detonator!" And all the rest of the dialogue.

Also:
Boushh was a male Ubese from Uba IV who worked as a bounty hunter. Following his little-known demise at the hands of the Black Sun crime syndicate, Princess Leia Organa impersonated him in order to infiltrate Jabba's Palace and free Han Solo.
Do Episode 8 haters even watch Star Wars? :P

In 2019 Star Wars, Boushh is more likely to identify as one of the 17 different genders you can choose from these days other than "male".

Are fans still not bothering even with J. J. Abrams back in the chair? Not that it serves as motivation for me because I didn't like Episode 7. That's why I missed TLJ.

The prequels earned their criticism but the action was tip top. I remember watching DVD extras of McGregor and Christensen training like mad for the light sabre fights. Ray Park's athleticism as Darth Maul. These scenes are still amazing today. The action and choreography in the latest sequels is garbage.

OK, so you're definitely making fun of the nutters

I heard Disney are destroying all copies of the OT and replacing them with a new cut where Leia is Photoshopped out in favour of a pansexual genderqueer in a polyamorous relationship with Chewie and Han. They don't need rescuing from the Death Star because that's racist.

Its also being re-named Star Sexuals.

This will be epically shit. Their biggest issue is who gives a fuck about these characters? Like no one even gives a fuck as to what is the point of Kylo Ren?

Well said re: prequels. Episode 3 for me is probably the 3rd best Star Wars film full-stop, behind Eps 5 and 4.

JJ being on deck is a good thing.

Too bad he has to try and work around the mess left by the previous movie.
That's what puts me off the most, how do you go into a new Star Wars trilogy without an overarching plan of what the general story will be? Remember how big trilogies were when the prequels came out? You had those and Lord of The Rings, plus movies that were so popular they got turned into a trilogy (The Matrix, Pirates of the Caribbean). Yet in a time when movies have only gotten even more commericialised, with "cinematic universes" comprising multiple movies and setting up franchisees for decades, they just decide to make it up as they go? Just get a new director and let him do whatever he wants regardless of what was setup in the 1st movie? I'd say it's fucking JJ Abrams fault with his Lost type shit where the questions and mystery are all that matters, not the resolution, so probably didn't have anything planned anway. I like to shit on George and the prequels, but atleast he had a vision (he just needed to let others have some input).
Ofcourse if the non story elements were actually good you could forgive it, but everything else was shit house too.

This was an issue I had with Force Awakens. Big things like the Knights of Ren and Snoke, and small incidental things like 3PO saying something like "you're probably wondering why my arm is red but I'm not going to tell you lol" pissed me off.

Wasn't the red arm supposed to tie in with some EA DLC but was later canned? I'm sure I read something when the TFA released.

I think It was explained in a comic book that came out around the same time as the movie.
