This 'going off into the sunset' business is also a bit suspect. I'm sure I read years ago that Shane Black always wanted to finally kill Riggs to end it.

Funny because it only turned up on Joystiq and Arstechnica today.

It's the first picture of him as the prince, not an announcement that he is the prince.

Take a look at the above picture and put your thumb over Gyllenhaal's face. The whole thing works; the clothes, hair, and beefed up physique look great. Then you take your thumb away and add that recognizable mug and the whole thing just gets surreal. He could be great in the movie, but this strikes me as casting that may actually distract viewers instead of bringing them into the film.
Ha ha I was just about to post something very similar and then I read the rest of the article. Its like he's sticking his face through one of those photo walls with a hole for your face.

new character posters for Star Trek

http://trekmovie.com/2008/08/09/vegasco" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... st-images/

Sulu, Scotty, Chekov and Bones.

... Chekov in this movie doesn't make a lot of sense though... I mean the character didn't enter the series until the later eps.

this Trek flick MAY turn out alright but I am still wary of JJ's involvement.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince pushed back until July 09. It was originally slated for Nov 08.

In other words... blockbusters all midyear and a drought of big films for the rest.

I think you're forgetting a certain blockbuster hitting at the end of the year.

You know his name. You know his number.

And whilst not blockbusters, there are plenty of great movies slated for the end of the year that I'm looking forward to. It actually sounds like May-July of 09 will actually be bigger than 08's. What I'm really wanting to see is the first film to be slated for December 09 release and take on Cameron's AVATAR.

Word on the street is the new Star Wars cartoon feature is not flash, a squishy 23% at Rotten Tomatoes, granted not many reviews so far but I am thinking this is a DVD for me.

Voltron has been delayed/put on indefinite hold. I was looking forward to this one. Although if you read the paragraph about the storyline it might be a good thing.
described as a post-apocalyptic tale set in New York City and Mexico, where five survivors of an alien attack band together and end up piloting the five lion-shaped robots that combine and form the massive sword-wielding Voltron that helps battle Earth's invaders.

I hate when they try and modernise an exisiting story. Removing it from it's original roots to try and appeal to a general audience.

Look at Constantine... I didn't think it was the worst film in the world... but I would have preferred an older, blonde haired english man. Maybe Keanu tried the hair dye and realised it wasn't the best look... Plus he should have grabbed the cigs again after defeating cancer.

But anyway... There is a pretty good existing story line, just leave it as is. I don't mind some updating so everyone isin't stuck in the 70's... although the look of Speed Racer was awesome... no fuck it. Just leave the stuff as is damn you! Don't rape our child hood!

Good news for Punisher fans.

There was a bit of a hullabaloo during comic con that started rumours going around. It seemed as if the director had been removed from the project and lionsgate wanted a PG13 film.

All rumours and lies. Everything is on track for a violent and thoughtful Punisher film. YAY! GO FRANK GO!

Ryan Kavanaugh's financing and production venture Relativity Media is in negotiations to back the property, though on a more moderate budget, utilizing the type of cost-effective technology employed in films including "300."

There's also news that FOX is trying to prevent WB from releasing Watchmen altogether. A judge just ruled in FOX's favour in an attempt by WB to have FOX's copyright claim to the movie property dismissed.

They mention that rather than attempt to get a % of the profits, FOX would rather prevent the release of the film altogether.

That's FOX for you.

Go look it up. Apparently they had somebody pen a script for it back in '94 or something.
