I am cautiously optimistic, in that I think there's way more scope for a great story here after all this time than there was with the original sequels.

It'd be nice if this film retconned them out of canon, since I can't think of how Neo and Trinity could still be alive otherwise.

Also, Dune appears to be reviewing well. I've not read any of the actual reviews past the headlines because I don't want to spoil anything for myself (he says, being able to recite while sections of the book...), but it's looking like it really is the goods. Hopefully it does well at the box office so we get the conclusion.

Of course, in Australia the premiere has been delayed until December, while it'll be available for streaming in the US for two months prior to that.
I bet the studio will wonder why the piracy rate is so high in Australia. It's like they have learnt nothing over the past thirty years, FFS.

What's the reason for the delay? Melb and Syd lockdown?

Tempting but...anything Villeneuve really needs the big screen. Really been hanging out for it!!

Sorry for causing the delay though

This will be tremendous on the big screen. It's a visual feast. Villeneuve was clearly the right choice of director for this story. Every shot is absolutely perfect, and his unique talent for telling unusual stories shines through.

Definitely going to see it in the cinema. We need a Part 2.

Truly well done. Compared to the book he cut a lot of story beats out - not sure if this was to satisfy the runtime or if he couldn't fit it into the narrative. Not a huge loss, the Lynch version of Dune is more faithful in that regard. The casting has been completely on point, the only weird note being Batista, he doesn't exude menace - he just spends most of his scenes standing around with his mouth open. Hoping he has more to do in part 2. Overall, will definitely be seeing this in the cinema - it just begs for the big screen. Villeneuve has to be in the top 3 best film makers in the industry at the moment. I'd watch him direct paint dry. My only fear is because part 2 hasn't been greenlit yet it won't get made considering how much this cost.

Uncharted trailer. Looks like a mix of Uncharted 3 & 4, well memory is a bit hazy but I'm sure that plane sequence was from 3 while the rest of the story looks like 4. Not sure how I feel about Wahlberg as Scully, Holland could be alright though.

I'm a bit unsure. They were pegging this as a prequel/origin story though they're taking from the later games.

It's when Tom Holland speaks that it loses it for me. He looks the part (for a younger Nate) but he's not the school age flashback version from the games either. So when a squeaky David Beckham comes out it's a bit weird.

I'm keen for it. Just the theories surrounding this film make the second and third films so much more relevant and goes some distance to explain why the first first looked different to the sequels. Also glad they filmed it in another city. Be watching it on launch day.

Look at it this way, it can't be worse than the sequels. 😂

There are parts of the sequels I still enjoy. The burly brawl (although the CGI hurts my eyes now), and anything Agent Smith does.

But yeah, overall they're The Hobbit to the original's Lord of the Rings.

Finally saw The Batman. I thought it was fantastic, really well done. A worthy successor to the Nolan trio and I hope for more.

Yep, agreed it was great. Cool to finally see Batman doing some detective stuff too, movie felt more like a true crime murder mystery thing than a superhero movie.
