It's open source. You can go look at the code yourself to see if it really tracks you like you think it will anyway.

Personally, I couldn't care if they tracked me for advertising purposes. I've actually found a couple of really useful things in the ads that they serve up in GMail that I'd never have heard of any other way.

Y'know...as a browser this thing doesn't look too bad (on initial impressions). You can tell it's WebKit based (sorry - WebCore) because it shows some of the same annoying foibles (particularly with telerik controls). It's doesn't try to be spastic with fonts though. Maximising the window looks a little funny with the way the tabs are arranged. It may be running them in separate processes but it still has that issue that most browsers other than Firefox seem to have with confusing the session ID on two sites in tabs on the same server on different ports. The way the url you're hovering over appears at the bottom is neat and keeps things clean, but it's also slightly annoying and pointless when your url is of the __doPostBack kind. The way it handles your typing in the address bar is pretty impressive.

Seems reasonably neat and minimalist so far. Haven't noticed any javascript issues when giving my current work web app a quick run through (though we generally don't need to do anything too spastic with javascript here, and the javascript on things like Telerik controls is pretty good and seems to be working okay - menus, tabs, grids, windows, etc.) - it will probably be about the same as supporting Safari for most stuff I guess.

Holy shit the browser is fast. And I can't believe that something actually beats Safari at its own minimalistic game.

You can tell that it's WebCore. It renders pages in exactly the same way that Safari does. It's awesome!

Yeah it does feel quite snappy, I like the UI, looks very clean and smart.

Pretty good for a first release, seems better than windows safari that's for sure. If they add plugin support, firefox could be in a bit of strife.

Developer section has the task manager and stats for nerds, lol.

One thing I have noticed is with a few tabs open, it's a massive memory hog. Each tab spawns a new process which eats up around 10-20mb a tab. It uses 2-3 times more memory with the same number of tabs vs firefox.

I guess that's the downside of spawning a process for each tab, there is probably around 10mb in overhead just by spawning a new browsing engine.

The way it handles and displays the bookmarks toolbar annoys me.

I like the 'stats for nerds' screen u can get to from the task manager (or aboutmemory)

Games-ranch's buttons for bold/quotes/images etc in the post editor are kinda mong.

I just tried it out. Eh I dunno what to make of it. It seems appealing, but I don't like how it handles bookmarks.

Also I noticed no difference in page load speeds between Chrome and Firefox.

Interesting how when you middle-click a link, it opens in a tab next to the one you're currently in. I like it.

Hahaha Internet Explorer 7 has always had that.

Scrollwheel sucks compared to clicking then scrolling with mouse movement.

lol talez, the wording leaves a lot of scope for google to abuse it, it's not a conspiracy, you've simply just handed over your privacy rights if you use their services, god knows how that information will be used by them and by their employers and other parties that have access to the information.

Google are too young and very ambitious to really know what they're up to. Like the saying goes, better the devil you know.
