Amusing/Retarded/Are you f**king serios?!1! news stories...
I got the idea for this from recent threads which have contained sort of sensational news stories which have sparked debate, I reckon they should have their own thread and hopefully you lot do to.
I've got a good one to start us off:
http://www.themercury.com.au/article/20 ... -news.html
News Limited with a story warning of a 'fraudulent psychic' sending e-mails around.
1) Fraudulent psychic? F**king fraudulent psychic? Implying that all other 'psychics' speak the truth? Are we living in the dark ages? Cross my palm with silver and I'll tell you that all psychics are full of shit.
2) People who get sucked in by these kinds of scams probably deserve to have no money.
That is all. Post your sensational news stories here if you wish then we dont need a thread for each...maybe?

DRAWINGS of The Simpsons characters engaging in sexual acts with one another have resulted in a Sydney man being convicted on child pornography charges.
In the NSW Supreme Court yesterday, judge Michael Adams upheld a decision to convict Alan John McEwan for possessing child pornography after determining that a fictional cartoon character could be considered to "depict a person" under state and commonwealth law.

How do you know there's not a teapot floating out in the middle of space?GreyWizzard wrote:How do you know psychic abilities aren't real?
What a stupid question. They've never been proven to be real. If they were real, which they're not, they would not be hard to prove beyond a doubt they're real. And yet James Randi's million dollar challenge was never claimed, I wonder why.

I'm not ready to rule it out yet, there hasn't really been anything to prove or disprove it.
Governments have been happy to fund research into it.
I know most "psychics" are applying a cold reading method and aren't real. But part of me likes to think there are real abilities and untapped parts of our minds

there's more proof of the moon landing than there is of dragons and psychics
Sign me up for liking the idea of psychic abilities and that just maybe humans are capable of them... just not the people who claim to have them.

Well GW, I would argue that all psychics are fakes, it's a fantasy which some people believe in and are happy to pay money for. What ever people are free to waste their $$$ on it just as I was free to waste my money on Rocky Legends (man that game was terrible, I should have just watched the movies again).
Wow @ the Simpsons as child pornography. I remember the thread a few months ago on Hensons photography too.

Who knows? Psychics know. Every last fucking one of the liars. Anyone who believes something "might" be true because it hasnt been disproven needs to do a bit more reading methinks. Not that I'm delving into ad-hominem attacks, but you are arguing a well-known fallacy there Grey.GreyWizzard wrote: I only said it in the first place because chin implied that all psychics are fake. And the Moon landings can be proven with lasers. They left behind special mirror arrays positioned so that lasers fired from Earth could be bounced back in order to measure the variations in the Moon-Earth separation.

Experts urge consumers to eat more Camel and Kangaroo as feral herds are becoming a problem.
This made me think of an interesting question:
Whats the strangest thing you have eaten? (not that Roo and Camel are all that strange)
For me its gotta be chicken hearts on a stick or whale sushi (both while living in Japan)
edit: sorry was whale sashimi not sushi for our current Japanese residents.

my sister ate bees while she was there. She loves telling the story.
I find it amazing how many people baulk at the idea of eating kangaroo though... just because they're cute doesn't exclude them from being tasty.

I have some emu in the freezer, waiting to be cooked, but I can't work out what would be the best way. Everybody says to cook it like Kangaroo, but my method of kangaroo cooking is... different to most people's, and with the amount that I paid for it, I don't want to fuck it up
Anybody got any suggestions?

Some seriously soft-headed London bishops entertaining the idea of including washing facilities for their Muslism students as they need to wash themselves before prayer.
Wow. Do they provide facilities for students with other faiths at the school? Surely an Islamic family sending their kids to a catholic school doesnt expect this or they would send them to one of Londons many Islamic schools.
I dont get it, it really seems like the Bishops are trying very hard to fix a problem that isnt there.
