Yeah, it's good having the NBA back on Free to air.I used to tape the NBA game of the week plus NBA action when ch10 used to show them in the mid 90's.I have 3 draws full of them, but most of them don't work anymore which is a shame.:\
It's bloody awesome watching them now in HD.CH 10 better not screw it up!
Now that Ten have destroyed its quality HD and ONE semi-exists, it looks like the NBA will be shown on ONE Digital (Ten SD 2)... Good for those without a HD STB although it is at a low bitrate.
Well it's a lot softer than usual, could be just be SD up-scaled.This is my first TNT broadcast view so it could be just that.Maybe I'm being a little harsh, it isn't too bad, but not up to ESPN's standard.
Yeah. The quality you are watching now is due to the fact that Ten (Wednesday) added the third digital channel. Now there are:
ONE HD (Still playing Ten HD content)
ONE Digital (Replaying Ten HD material in SD)
Ten Digital (Normal programming)
Since they added ONE Digital, the bitrate on ONE HD had to be reduced to 13.5Mbps (down 3Mbps for ONE Digital) which is why it looks so bad. From now on, all HD sports will look this awful - there simply isn't the bitrates available for HD sporting events now.
So what we have is no HD movies, docos or shows and poor quality HD sports. It is the end of quality HD in Australia.
I don't understand why there is 2 ONE HD - what's the point having 2 of them? Should make one of them the SD channel, so they need to use up another channel space.
yes ive watched it...and they dont look as good compared to the newsgroup rips of the stuff from the u.s..lower bitrate more compression artifacts when panning...
i guess im lucky though getting free usenet access..
also ten hd was one of if not the best hd channel in australia paid or free to air...now they are degrading the bitrate on hd feed for this other channel..
whatever the case bluray is still the king...and over the air hd still cant touch it...sadly..movies and shows just blow everything else out of the water when you view them on a bluray..
though i do wish we had that netflix stuff here...that would be a nice boost for streaming hd shows and movies...on your xbox or pc with easy access and i hear the tech ms silverlight they used provides awesome results on good internet connections
