The Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin dead at 44

THE Crocodile Man, Steve Irwin, is dead.

He was killed in a freak accident in Cairns, police sources said. It is understood he was killed by a sting-ray barb that went through his chest.

He was swimming off the Low Isles at Port Douglas filming an underwater documentary and that's when it occured.

Ambulance officers confirmed they attended a reef fatality this morning at Batt Reef off Port Douglas.

I know people hated him but he was a champ, he's a national icon, how often do you see people dressed like him at sporting events?

Word. THis ruined my day. He always seemed invincible and i can't beleive that he died doing this. He had so many people around him watching him always. YOu would think that there would be some way for them to do something about it.

RIP Mate. YOu're a fucking legend. Probably lucky to live as long as you did. But he definitely did come across as godlike when it came to what he done. What a harsh way to come back to reality. His poor wife and kids. He was still so young.

Wow I can't believe it, hard to imagine a larger than life charcter like that dead....

Although considering his job, he was probably lucky to last this long.

Just a shame it was at such a young age. I'm sure his wife was present at the time... that must've been horrible for her.
