Nothing really new here. Most of the new stuff is in iTunes 7. Bigger hard drive, better screen, some software hacks and cheaper. Oh and here's what I'm trolling about

iPod has internal changes, Nano has colours now (and aluminium finish to counter the scratches), but the big change is in the Shuffle.
I have never judged MP3 players by their ability to be used as a suppository until today. That thing is tiny.

iTV and movies on iTunes store were the big announcements. iTV is the development name for the Apple Media Centre that has been rumored for years, and was shown in prototype form today. I'll give a better roundup once I get to Uni.

when the wide screen ipod comes out with the built in iphone and itoaster come out, you'll eat your words
actually, you might have noticed that's still a 5th gen ipod
as far as i can tell the screen is pretty much the same thing
6th gen is when the magic will happen (maybe)
also, fucking FINALLY

i hope this means firmware updates for the older ones for thisiPod supports gapless playback that seamlessly transitions from one song to another.

I'm kind of tempted to upgrade from my 60GB iPod Video to the 80Gb one for the extra battery life and whatnot, given how cheap it is (it'll cost me about $410 after various discounts + GST back). My battery in my current one is on its way out, I could get a few hundred for it on eBay easily... HMMMM....

And if you’re a fan of live albums, classical works, or anything that sounds best when it’s continuous, iPod supports gapless playback that seamlessly transitions from one song to another.
I got all my iPods with education discount, I assume they still have it, they had it a couple of months ago when I last checked.selfish wrote:explain your discounting scams? the best i can wangle is a dicky educational discount, and i don't think they even work with ipods :\
Will get the GST off as I'm going overseas.
Fuck those ipod shuffles are tiny.. might have to get one. One thing that has always driven me off getting an MP3 player is the size and how easily I could fuck up the screen if it's kicking aorund my pockets with my wallet/keys/ph etc. but that looks small and convenient enough just to throw in there aswell without any worry. $120 isn't too badly priced either.
Mind you the original shuffles were alright too, but I don't think they came in 1GB format did they?

There were rumours of a ipod which was more catered to video viewing, with a full 16x9 screen that covers the whole face of the unit and would of had a touch screen.Talez wrote:Uhhh...
The iPod can play video since the last ones came out. This one enhances the video on the iPod so it can accept, play and output 640x480 instead of being limited like before.
This is a big plus if you're one of the 3 people that play video content on your TV through your iPod.
This is what it was supposed to look like.

I'd love to see that in the market place.
Is there anyway around the restrictions on iTunes limited by geography (moreso by the geography of your credit card). I wouldn't mind d/ling some TV shows from the US iTunes Store, but as I have an Aussie credit card, I can only access the Aussie iTunes Store, which doesn't have any TV shows.
Of course, there are other ways to procure said TV shows, but it would be good to keep my options open.

The new iPods are almost identical hardware wise. Apparently the latest iPod software update will update a 5G iPod with the new software features so grab iTunes 7 and see what it does.Shaneus wrote:Fuck. Fuck fuck fuck.
