That is a good price. Amazing what you can get for that kind of money eh. Unfortunately my typical impatience took hold of me this morning and I sourced one of the 46” models that I linked above and bought it. It should be here tomorrow. Hope this one lasts me for a bit...

I fucking love this new TV. Very happy. Assuming it holds up quality wise I’ll be very glad about this one. It’s a bit weird connecting a TV on WiFi during setup. I hope nobody hacks it and somehow fills it with porn. Ah who am I kidding, that would be awesome.

You got the same telly as me! 46GT Panasonic (thanks to the suggestions given here ;) ). I LOVE mine to BTW. Where did you end up buying from? How did you go with the 3D glasses? Cheapest I found for the new small light glasses was $80 ea at Good Guys. 3D is nice, especially the 3D porn - looks great!

Haven’t bothered with glasses yet. I suppose I should at some point but for the moment I just needed a working tellie. I can’t remember how much they were but it was way more than $80. I might have to check my local Goof Guys if I can get ‘em for that.

I got exactly the same one as well, but I'm not quite as happy. The 48Hz 24hz picture mode pisses me off massively. I also think I have the fluctuating brightness prob as well :/

Yeah, in 24hz mode (ie. the source is 24hz) the screen updates at 48Hz and there's a slight (but personally, very noticeable) flicker going on between frames. I don't know if other TVs that have 48Hz mode do it or not (the VT series is at 96Hz and is apparently perfectly fine) but it absolutely drives me up the wall with this one. Someone else here might have a non-Pana plasma might be able to see if it does the same thing.

This guy here does a good enough job of briefly explaining it.

Edit: Here too.

2012 Panasonic models are due out soon and apparently pretty nice.

Nice timing Pilon.

Your better off with the 2011 model anyway as you saved a packet buying it and all panels now are not made in japan anymore as their plasma pressing plant was closed down last year.

Yeah, got it for ~$900 which I'm stoked with, didn't think it was possible to find them let. I'd only seen the 42" ST at JB, or the UT models.

Got it set up, all going well and looks sensational

Another +1 for playing 720p mvks out of the box. Can't wait to watch Mad Men tonight.

Only downside was having a copy of Avatar in the box.

Because Panasonic have exclusive on Avatar 3D Bluray, they are fetching a decent dollar on Ebay.

I noticed that after complaining, $80 or so would help fund my glasses purchase.

Has anyone found a cheap pair for the Panasonics?

From Bing Lee when I purchased my telly:

I checked two stores when I bought it and none of them had any glasses :(

One guy even tried to tell me to wait a month and some Samsung glasses will come out that are compatible and will retail for $25-$30

Really? Is it timed or is that really the only 3D copy of it you can get?

I actually have it here, but no glasses to use it with. Didn't realise it was worth a few bucks.

Seriously if either of you want to sell it for $50 inc post i'll gladly buy it, and i want it for home use not to sell on fleabay.
Its a reference disk to show off your 3d tv and on my 64" sammy it would look noice.
And yes it was an exclusive deal with panasonic that only just finished at the end of feb.

Nope. Just the ST and the VT in the higher end panels. The difference in panel quality between the two of them is slight to nigh on indistinguishable. VT has a lot more features that will never be used anyway. No 50 inch in the VT, they only start at 55 and are over $3k anyway.

Crazy price.

When I was looking at mine I couldn't tell the difference between the ST/GT/VT panels. They're all damn good, that's about what I paid for my 46GT in March!
