Why suspect buying from Bing Lee? They're fine.

Did you "Negotiate Online" with them Shaneus? I see that on their website and it intrigues me.

Haven't taken the plunge yet, but will. I wasn't concerned with Bing's shopfront service, but more their online stuff as I've read some horror stories, such as laptops being sent via eParcel, not shipping for weeks, that sort of thing.

Also, if anyone else is thinking of getting one, sign up to their newsletter to save 5% (which basically covers the shipping).

Just fired up an online chat thing now, will keep you all posted if interested.

Ordered yesterday and looks like it was sent today. Next problem is working out what the fuck to do with either my current 42" or the 32" in my bedroom :/

Didn't bend at all on the price, other than the 5% that was offered for subscribing to their newsletter. Still an awesome price for what is essentially the best 46" TV on the market though.

Yeah, I reckon so. Neither is flash (42" is an Aldi cheapo, 32" is a Hitachi but has a stuck pixel or two and is only 768p) but a crappy 1080p TV is better than a slightly less crappy 32".

Seems like a waste for the 32" though, it's served me well. I might see what Cashies will give me.

I love the OLEDs on my phone, the news of 55inch panels coming out later this years is very exciting, for the first time in a long while I'm contemplating an upgrade, but I want a 60+ inch unit and it will be for the theatre room in my new house. :)

Time for a new TV?

I read somewhere that OLED pixels tend to age and die un-uniformly and the panels therefore tend to exhibit what appears to be burn-in over time. This was a problem with the Sony OLEDs anyway.

That's correct cardsy, OLEDs degrade like plasmas do but at a faster rate, this is why the technology has taken a long time to mature as manufacturers have had to come up with ways to prolong the life of blue OLEDs mostly, this is why pentile matrixes came into existence, by reducing the number of blue oleds overall panel life is prolonged.

This is where the super amoled plus tech has improved blue oleds life allowing them to do full rgb displays, will be interesting to see the panel half life and burn in these big screens. I think samsung is the only one doing normal RGB matrixes, LG is doing RGB and white led.

Have you bought yours yet Shaneus? Is 42" ok for you?

http://www.binglee.com.au/panasonic-th- ... -plasma-tv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is pretty much what I want, and has 3D if I ever decide to use it. I'd prefer 46" but my place is small and 42" will be fine for now.

For some reason it's $200 more at JB.

Yeah, grabbed the 46" and apart from the odd known issue it's been a stellar TV. Mine's the GT30A, which I think is two steps above the one you're looking at (which is what I was initially going to get anyway). Think it goes VT, GT, ST then UT (T is for 3D).

As differences go, I think the ST and up have some additional anti-reflective stuff (so it's not like using a really bright mirror) and the GT has some THX stuff that is supposed to be worth it (which I'm yet to see). I think there might be additional HDMI ports as well.

I felt it was justified to go the 46" GT30A only because it was going for ~$1200 pretty much everywhere else and has all that extra shit I MAY regret not splurging for down the track, but if I'd bought the one you're eyeballing I'm sure I'd be just as happy anyway. Make sure you subscribe to their newsletter thing to knock 5% off, too :)

As for the negotiation, I started up an online chat and the guy basically said the price they'd knock it down to was the price after that 5% coupon. You may be able to talk them down, but apparently they're pretty tight unless you go instore.

Yeah I might wander in on the weekend, people on whirlpool are talking about $550 for it. I wouldn't mind a 46" but I really cant justify going over $700ish right now.

Hardly Normal Scumshine mate, just call me the master haggler.

For somereason that store has it marked at $2500 for the TV alone, where as Hoppers still has marked for $2999 (may be a mistake at one or the other)
The wife went into Hoppers and they would drop to $2500 but they wouldnt budge on the warranmty price of $350. No other stores in Hoppers would go below $2850 including warranty.

Just walked in and told him I wanted the set for $2600 including the warranty. Done.
Then added the deliver $60, and told him to give me glasses for $40 bucks, he said $59 was the lowest, and I said no it isnt, lets make this an even $2700 heres my card.

I really enjoy buying big ticket items. :D
