I'm surprised the whole Shield round was abandoned. It's tragic, but you've got to keep moving.

Re: Cricket thread
Phil Hughes passed away.
Far out, I didn't think this could happen these days in cricket. How on earth are these blokes supposed to get up for a Test next week?

Re: Cricket thread
Just shocking heard the news on SEN on the way home from work tonight.
Just mind blowing how it all happened. His Doctors on the news just said a vein in his neck was crushed which bleed into his brain. I thought it was from a shot to the head, just a freak accident. Abbott must be reeling from that ball he bowled, its got to be hard for him..

Re: Cricket thread
So unlucky, people have been struck there before, it just happened to hit on an artery... It's shocking someone can lose their life like that.
RIP Phil Hughes.

Re: Cricket thread
Absolutely tragic news. My heart sank upon reading it. I honestly expected a full recovery.

Re: Cricket thread
Yeah I expected a full recovery too. It's quite surreal to think someone has bowled a ball, like normal, and literally killed the batsman. I hope Abbott can recover from this.

Re: Cricket thread
How sad would it be if Ireland were excluded from the next World Cup? Their performance against the Windies was superb.

Re: Cricket thread
There are plans afoot to reduce the size of the next world cup. Less teams and therefore less time for the tournament itself. Minnow nations won't be invited, so no Ireland. It's a terrible idea.

Re: Cricket thread
They need to do something about it, the tournament feels like it's been going forever and it's not even half over. And if you didn't think it was going slow enough, guess who's playing tomorrow? No one!

Re: Cricket thread
Yeah it's bullshit but there's an easy fix - two games in one day. There'll be overlap, but who cares!
