Lego

Post by edgecrusher »

So during lockdowns here in Melbourne ,as we know there has been many. I got into Lego. I loved it as a kid but my misses got me a Tie Fighter as a surprise. We walked past a Toyworld and I saw some sets and I said, I wouldn't mind getting a set one day. 2 years later and many $$$ later I'm hooked and she loves it as well. I'm currently working on the UCS AT-AT and she finished the Titanic. Anyone here do MOCS? or any sets in general?

I nearly bought a Technics Truck with swinglift trailer and container a couple of years ago. Saw online it was in stock, got there and none (was half price, about $120) and their store computer even said there was some there but alas. Every now and then there's a Technics set I am interested in but that's as far as it goes. Would probably change of I had to room to display them.

Any pics of your sets?

A few years back was in London (early 2017) and popped into the Lego Store in Leicester Square to have a look around. I believe it is or was the biggest in the world?

Picked up the Ecto-1 (from the OG movie) and got hooked. My first Lego purchase since I was a kid (was right into the Castle sets as a kid). I've seen other versions that are quite big, this one is a relatively small Ecto-1 model.

Lego is expensive af so I haven't bought a lot of sets since, but also got Voltron (my favourite) and Stranger Things.

Votron is amazing. You literally build the five lions, then combine them into the robot. Absolutely love it.

Stranger Things was an absolute bitch to put together (you basically build two mirror image houses, regular and upside down, then two trees. The trees act as stands for the houses. It was clipping them all together that was a bitch. Fuck me it literally broke apart in my hands at my first attempt. It's all finished now but yeah. Turned me off Lego for a while.

My sets:

Bought my wife the coffee shop from Friends for her birthday a couple of years ago:

When I got my Series X, my wife got the insane Hogwarts set. Different scale to most Lego sets, but holy shit this thing is insane. But quite straightforward to build (especially compared to Stranger Things:

What I really want now is the Mario 64 set:

Perth got its first proper Lego Store last year, but it's quite far away from me. Which is good and bad
Currently playing: Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition (PC), Far Cry 6 (PC), FIFA 21 (Series X), TimeSplitters 2 (Series X BC)
