Sigh. A great idea seemingly let down by a single stupid idea. At the risk of sounding like itch, this is what happens when pollies/bureaucrats get to make technical decisions.

I'd be more interested in seeing tpg's plans. They might as well have asked telstra what they were going to charge.

Even if you halve these prices or double the speeds, it's still an internet service that's only incrementally better than what we are getting now - not the revolutionary upgrade that we were led to believe would happen.

I love that conroy says "well it's ok if you compare it with a bundled telephone service!"
Seriously, who the fuck has a landline anymore? Except people over the age of 60?
And "30gb should be enough for anybody" - great. I call retarded on the whole thing. I just went over my 100 gb limit...

Both iiNet and Internode's Naked DSL service start at $59.95 for the exact same data because you have the ULL tax on copper.selfish wrote:I love that conroy says "well it's ok if you compare it with a bundled telephone service!"

So they have a baseline 12mbps service that's either identical to naked (which only covers a fraction of city populations at best) or better than ADSL + landline bundling.
Once again The Australian sucks in all the idiots and whips them into a frenzy over a non-story. And once again westical is practicing the conservative "fuck you I've got mine" political reasoning.

I mean it's not like ADSL was expensive when it was first introduced into Australia or anything...

But the story was in The Age. And westical didn't post anything in response.Talez wrote:Once again The Australian sucks in all the idiots and whips them into a frenzy over a non-story. And once again westical is practicing the conservative "fuck you I've got mine" political reasoning.

Yes. The Age ran the story but the writers at The Australian wrote it. It said the source in the byline.Megaman wrote:But the story was in The Age. But let's ignore the completely valid point I made. Because there's really no retort to it.
People see the $29.95 sticker price on bare bones TW ADSL and then compare it to full service/naked NBN pricing.

Re: Post-Election NBN Thread
The byline says it was written by Asher Moses and Lucy Battersby, who are Fairfax journos, which even the most basic of Google searches will confirm. You're just trolling, aren't you?

When do I get an apology?

See, I always figured even though Talez is a biased aggressive lefty, he still has half a brain. But this thread is proving me wrong.

What? I have three landlines into my house? And the house is less than a year old. Other than ravers, drug dealers and renters who wouldn't have a landline?selfish wrote:I love that conroy says "well it's ok if you compare it with a bundled telephone service!"

I wouldn't if I could, but naked was going to be too much of a fuck around and not any cheaper.

Re: Post-Election NBN Thread
So I can pay $80 for 200gb for 12mb/1mb with the new NBN
Or I can pay $60 for 150gb for 12mb/1mb currently.
Thanks Juliar.

Re: Post-Election NBN Thread
This is only a valid comparison if you're currently with Internode, seeing as their prices are quite expensive compared to the competition. And the fact that you're paying $60 for 150gb on a naked or bundled plan tells me that you're not currently with Internode.pilonv1 wrote:So I can pay $80 for 200gb for 12mb/1mb with the new NBN
