Season 2 of Wil Wheaton's YouTube series has started, with Formula D which they all pronounce as Formula Day which is odd but presumably correct in some stupid technical way. The guests are excellent.

The Resistance is next week's.

The Resistance is an awesome game. We've played it several times and it inevitably ends up with a lot of finger-pointing and loud voices.

Consider it a framework for people interaction. There are virtually no game components - the game is about players being assigned roles and as a group working out who's on who's team. There's a lot of lies and speculation involved in the process.

Excellent game when played with people you're familiar with, and a few beers to lubricate proceedings doesn't hurt either. :)

I've ordered these wooden trains for Ticket To Ride because the cheapo plastic ones that come with the game feel "very Monopoly" as Mister Gun put it: http://maydaygames.com/train-wooden-tokens-premium.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think wood is much nicer than plastic. If Ticket to Ride had a variety of plastic pieces I'd find the choice tougher, but 100% box cars is just boring.

I'll do an LED mod on the Engines and possibly a little 6 axle mod for each piece. I was also thinking a few small bowls of dry ice around the board for that steamy olden days feel.

Just bought Carcassonne yesterday for $40 (came with free river expansion, although I expect that is the norm) and gave it a run last night, feels good to play it again and the itch is now starting. Keen to get Catan next and maybe Ticket to Ride.

I'm thinking of starting a once a month night at my place in May. I've got a bit going on at the moment and need to get a few things out of the way. I'm thinking about May 11th at this point but it's not concrete.

Awesome, I'll see you May 11th 6:00pm sharp. I'll bring dip. I invited all my facebook friends, hope you don't mind? I even made a cool graphic for the event page - it's a collage of The Room characters playing Game of Life. Hell, I'm feeling helpful so I'll go ahead and create events for the next 12 or so months! Also, a certain actor from Star Trek may be there. It was gonna be a surprise but I couldn't contain myself.

Oh it's not concrete? NAAAT concrete? I guess I'll tell Mr Wheaton to cancel his flights

Is "dip" some sort of slang for party drugs?

Last few months been heading over to my mates place to play drunken Monopoly when we get a good group of people. Now it's become something of a weekly occurrence and we've started integrating fan rules like being able to travel between train stations you own if you land on them (but said travel takes up a turn) and bidding for the first roll of the dice (with the second highest bid going second and so-fourth).

Fair point. We just played a six hour game of BSG.

Hercy was the cylon.

And for a six hour game it sure felt like five and three quarter hours to me. It just flew by.

Epic by the way.

Hilarious. Juz brought a friend. That friend was also a cylon and threw Juz in the brig right at the start of the game. Juz stayed there until the game finished. 6 Hours in the brig. On my second last turn I (playing as Baltar) also ended up in the brig but was able to remove myself immediately due to (Baltar being slimy and craven) a lack of interest by the winning cylons. It was just another instance of prison rape for poor Juz.

After 6 hours the cylons won. Probably because Juz spent so long in the brig. It might have been a completely different outcome if Juz' long time friend hadn't thrown him in the brig and basically nerfed Juz for six hours. But that happened.

yeah he won't be able to sit down for a while

That was quite silly I must admit... I couldn't believe it when I looked at my watch and say it was 4am. Definitely need to reign in the turn time. Not sure how though...

I don't think it's been mentioned yet in this thread, but you guys might like Agricola if you haven't yet played it, especially if you like games like Alhambra, Ticket to Ride and Carcass:

Also, I've asked for its distant cousin for Christmas, behold the glory that is Le Havre: (check out how similar the art style is)

If anyone's in need of a reliable player for any of these games ("if only we had one more person!") feel free to drop me a line. Freakin' love board games of all kinds. Just last Sunday my friends and I played an epic game of Twilight Imperium that went from 1pm until around midnight. We stopped for about half an hour for dinner.

I only found my copy of the game a few weeks ago. I'd painted the pieces. It was well before I'd gained any kind of skill at it. They were my first miniatures I'd tried to paint.
Anyway, it looks as if everything is still in the box. And an expansion.

Heroquest 25th Anniversary is the subject of an intellectual property dispute and is currently unavailable.

No need to check the servers — the rest of Kickstarter is doing just fine.

We're doing a King Of Tokyo - Battlestar Galactica - Game of Thrones board game night tomorrow at Hercy's. It'll be fucking epic.

I want to be The Boltons.

I'll be hosting one before the end of February - before our ba...nothing.

Tonight, I was the owner of the most epic boardgame fail ever.

BSG, I have the ability to look at one player's loyalty cards. I did and misread his cards- did not see the You ARE a Cylon in his hand but read them all as You are NOT a cylon.

I caused the death of the human race.

Absolutely shocking. I'll never live it down.
