Re: Game of Thrones [TV HBO]
Just for perspective, in the book there is an attempt on Daenerys' life via poisoning which fails. She marries H'zdar and the pits are opened to celebrate. The noise and smell of blood attracts Drogon to the pits and he's instantly attacked. Daenerys jumps into the pit and rides Drogon out and away. There is no attack by the Harpies at the games. Nor does Sir Jorah throw a spear through the royal party to kill a Harpie that magically slipped through the royal guard and was about to cut her throat.
The Unsullied have been misrepresented by TV's Game of Thrones' writers. So has Stanis. Also, you'd be really surprised at things that have been completely left out in the last couple of seasons. If you're interested, look up Lady Stoneheart. Her omission from the show has changed Brienne's story a lot and it was WAY more interesting than it is now.

Re: Game of Thrones [TV HBO]
Anyway, she has at least two armies at her disposal. The Second Sons is...are(?) supposed to be away negotiating local rule of another city but I'm not sure if that's how they're playing it on TV's Game of Thrones because their leader, Daario Naharis (the dude she's fucking) is still with her yet they don't seem to be involved in the slaughter.

Predictable ep.
Also blows Cletus' theory he mentioned couple of years back out of the water. Good cos I hate it when he's right all the time.

I felt zero impact from all the possible deaths...
I'd say the only one with the greatest chance of death is the girl who is cool with incestuous parents.

Re: Game of Thrones [TV HBO]
It's like they needed to give people a reason to come back next year now that all the book content is done. On the flip side it really felt like they had run out of ideas and even cut scenes short because they had run out of book content!

The books end on the same note pretty much for Snow, Cercei and Dragontits. Even book readers are left to believe Snow is dead.

Yeah I just read about that today. I think I'm at the point where I just want them to end it already.

Two more books at this point. He might even live long enough to finish one of them.

Re: Game of Thrones [TV HBO]
I blame the show for his tardiness, he got too wrapped up in it. SHowrunners should have taken more time adapting the books, tonnes more material they could have mined. I hope he finishes it before he dies, dude is not healthy at all.

Re: Game of Thrones [TV HBO]
They've altered Arya's storyline. It's an improvement to the books in my opinion. They've changed the order of things and some of the characters she kills in this season which is perfectly fine because it involved characters like Samwell being in Braavos and in the show, he isn't. All perfectly fine changes. But the big positive for me is the inclusion of Jaqen Hagar as her teacher. He's awesome in the books but hasn't reappeared since he slayed everyone for Arya at Harrenhal. In the show, he's my favourite character and Arya's story is the most interesting part of the later books. The merge is great. Her story and Snow's outcome keeps me interested for both versions of the story.
I have a suspicion that some of the abandoned characters will now be used in the next season.
The two right at the front (Dondarion and his mate?) are missing for a reason. If another character is introduced you'll know why those two have been out since the Red Wedding.
Osha and Ricon have never shown up since they fled Winterfell.
Bran's story has ended in line with the books.
The Ironborn story seems to have been dropped. Maybe a blessing.
Snow's story ended kind of in line with the books. He's stabbed in much the same way "for the watch" but the circumstances are different and interesting. He gets a letter from Ramsay Bolton claiming to have overcome Stanis. He also claims to have captured the resurrected Mance (sent to rescue Arya) and makes threats about Shireen and his bride to be, Arya (actually an imposter Jane Poole, Sansa is still at The Vale with Baelish). John Snow gathers the crows to march on Winterfell which they seemingly agree to but they start stabbing him as he sets out to leave. I guess Stanis' storyline is somewhat in line with the books except for the daughter burning. Maybe that will be part of Davos' pov chapters in the coming books and Ramsay's letter is only part true.
Marcella being poisoned is TV. She is disfigured in a botched kidnapping/escape plan. She doesn't die in Jamie's arms. There's no revelation that she knew he was Darth Vader. Jamie is on the other side of the continent. I think she's still alive in the books.

I will give it to the production team, the rout of Stannis was well shot. Guessing all of it was CGI
