Windows media connect help

Post by flipswitch »

Just installed this ( dont have XBMC) and it says you can watch live and recorded tv, movies, music and photos.I'm having trouble getting videos to work when I go to 'media' on my x360 it only shows videos from my console harddrive. Any help? thanks

In my windows connect folder on my PC I have a number of folders (mostly my music/pictrues/videos) but can't access the video folder through my x360 because of reasons stated in the first paragraph.

I think you're waiting for a LIVE dash update.

Im running connect through WMP so there's nothing yet.It doesn't work.

My bad, I said you can watch movies and live tv but that's WMC not connect, go the two confused. But it still states that you can stream video for connect,I can only stream music/photos.

Again, what cletus said. You have to wait for the Spring dash update.

I'm thinking about installing Media Centre Edition but really it's a complete waste of time.

Basically:

* You can't play video with Windows Media Connect
* Video streaming only works when you use Windows Media Centre Edition and a supported codec
* Supported codes are MPEG-1/2, WMV and DVR-MS

So basically all that ripped stuff you have in Divx or Xvid is pretty much useless. The only use for it would be so you can use a cheap (~$150) HDTV card in your PC instead of a $400 STB to watch HDTV.

There are transcoding plugins for media center talez, that allow you to watch xvids or any other video format over a media center extender. Of course that only works if your media server is grunty enough to transcode on the fly.
