The last 8 laps were awesome...got sick of all of those yellow flags tho. Lowndes thoroughly deserved to win today....go lowndes and ford for the champinoship!!, good to see him win it...suck shit to skaife cos he's an arrogant bastard

Explain your reasoning because the last 8 laps had:

* No braking duels between Lowndes and Kelly
* No crashes or even close calls from either Lowndes or Kelly
* The threat of finishing the race behind a safety car

For me it really wasn't that exciting.

That was a tense finish. I could hardly watch, but I'm stoked that Lowndes held on - he thoroughly deserved it, and it was a good result all round.

A brief plug for Lowndes - my brother serves in the army and is currently deployed overseas in one of the world's less pleasant places. A friend sent Lowndes an email saying that he's a Ford fan and a Lowndes fan and it would be nice to get something for when he returns. He sent a poster with a personal message which he signed, all for free of course.

So he gets a double thumbs up from me for being a generally top bloke!

Why were the last 8 laps awesome??

1. There was no more o.6 seconds between 1st and 2nd for the whole 8
laps

2. Both drivers were driving as fast and as hard as they could
which showed in the lap times they were doing, both did a lap time
which was only 0.2 of a second behind the bathurst lap record and the
other laps were only roughly half a second slower then that lap time

3. Both drivers are the top 2 in the championship at the moment so they
both knew there was more to risk if they crashed out ( only about
20 points seperated lowndes and kelly ) so it wasnt just for the
bathurst win

You combine all of that and you get a thrilling last 8 laps of the best car race on earth

So many times the safety car was called on, I don't think I've seen anything like that before. Some really nasty accidents as well which I don't think they should replay over and over

All in all a good race though because holden didn't win!

Because the Holden logo is awesome, and they are proud to show that they are holden.

The lion is why I have always preferred Holden to Ford since being a little kid, its just cooler

Although in general I like both, give me a Commodore SS or an XR8 Falcon and I'll be happy with either.

In fact, give me any new car and I'd be happy

you gotta love Australia's premier motorsport class
people always say these drivers really push hard, which is true, those cars handle like fucking dogs. especially when people like Lowndes and Skaifey have room in the back to take the kids on a family holiday, in there family designed cars. seriously, put another make of car in there FFS. Skylines dominated in the 80s and would do the same today. even the ol Ford Sierra was a decent dose of variety
