I asked the very same question today. People ask me if I'm a Ford or Holden man - and I ask, why should I have to decide between just those two. I'm going to go on record here and say that most motorsport, including Bathurst, bores me. The best bits are the collisions ironically enough. I much prefer the creativity and improvisation of world rally racing. More entertaining for me, the way those guys thrash their beautiful cars into scrap metal.

They already did that, Holden left them for dead: 1st and 2nd Holden 3rd PORSCHE 911 GT3 RC +12 laps -------> + 12 lap victory at Bathurst

Brocky and others in a HOLDEN Monaro beat Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porches and more at the Bathurst 24 hour race. Go Holden!

Ford

Sniff.......Thinking of Brocky (RIP)
Brock was the ultimate racing driver. A classic example was Bathurst in 1979 when he won by six laps and broke the lap record on the last lap.

Flashback to Bathurst 79 Some Peter Brock magic

How many cars DNF'ed in the early stages, including Skaife who failed to make even 1 lap?

I'm not too fussed about who won it this year. Kinda cool to see Lowndes take it out since he and Brock were so close earlier in his career.

Also, i'm pretty sure westicals was making a smart ass comment on the Ferrari/Lamborghini thing. As putting Skylines in just makes Bathurst shit.

Bathurst is an Aussie event. Holden vs Ford. I don't think anyone here wants to see Italian cars on the track, or Japanese piece of shit cars.

These things are now so far removed from standard production cars that it wouldn’t matter what you added. The whole category is designed around parity anyway to ensure one car doesn’t dominate.

I enjoyed watching Group A style production based touring stuff as well, but it doesn’t really lend itself to close racing. You usually get a single car dominate for a season, or they do ridiculous things like adding weight in an attempt to increase parity which defeats the purpose of seeing which cars are better anyway. To get close racing you need a more tightly controlled category. It wouldn’t matter what other manufacturers you add, because they would all need to be made essentially equal for the class to work.

And for the record, these cars get around faster than the 911 GT3s. It’s doubtful that any actual production car would beat these things – it’s a pointless comparison these days. Group A is gone, and the remaining touring car classes all do the same old crap to ensure close racing.

Ford winning Bathurst is like Freo winning a derby. Sure it happens now and again but that doesn't stop it feeling wierd and strange and unnatural every time and I DON'T LIKE IT! :|

I love Holden. But i aint bothered by Ford winning. It takes an exceptional driver to win it, ontop of a reliable car and a bit of luck.

Lowndes is a great driver, and it was about time he won it since he switched to Ford. Just a pity that Skaife had the clutch problems... he was easily the fastest qualifier. And didn't even get to make 1 lap. LOL.

I've got nothing against the holden logo, but the size of the thing on the new commodore is just way to big and looks like something flavour flav should wear around his neck like a novelty.

Ferrari's?? Lambo's??

NO way, this is Australia, fair dinkum good old Australia Ford v Holden race. I wouldent watch it if other makes started racing there. You couldent get more Australian then watching Ford V Holden at Bathurst, cooking a few snags on the barbie and cracking a tinnie at 10am in the morning when the race starts.
Everybody be cool.....You be cool
