Yeah, the project was going to happen anyway only now they’re using ships instead of dog sleds.

Can we change Twit's tag to 'Ars Parrot'? That's all he does, regurgitates their science journalist.

Yeah, he should be regurgitating Murdoch, non-Lord Viscount Bug-Eyes and East Bum Crack instead.

For centuries we tried to open the Northwest Passage for trade and failed because there was too much ice aboot. It's not like we just never noticed it or anything. Recently it seems to have become more reasonably possible on a more regular basis because there isn't as much ice around, hence the project. You can attribute that to whatever you like I suppose - maybe it's just a fluke...

...but it seems pretty clear that a recent recession of ice cover is what’s made this possible, no? The company laying the cable are the ones saying that the Arctic ice cap had receded enough to permit the installation.

That's all well and good Twit, but how long have they been keeping records of the amount of ice in the Northwest Passage?

I honestly don't care, but this is the constant shit being regurgitated by you and, like I said, it's shit. Just read it, let yourself think about it, then keep it to yourself.

Since 1972. But prior to that, we sent expedition after expedition to try and find a way through. Captain Cook had a crack at it in 1776. We never got through until the early 1900’s, and that took 3 years and a steal ship with a gasoline engine. It finally started opening up from 2008.

I don’t get how you can seem to be both upset and not care at the same time. This is the global warming thread, and it’s not like I’m spouting some wild lizard man conspiracy shit. It seems relevant. Sorry if that offends you.

No? Article was balanced, I don't live in the UK and I don't keep tabs on who owns every news publication in the world and what their supposed agenda is.

Oh, because the Daily Mail is sort of famous for being ludicrously pro-Tory and reactionary.

That Daily Mail article was linked a few pages back. There was a Met Office refutation of it plus a page all about David Rose who wrote the article, if you’re interested. Or not - whatever.

Eh would require more reading than I am concerned with especially since I ended up going from a supposed right wing mouthpiece to a lefty paradise and my brain broke (similar I imagine if the earths poles spontaneously flipped).

no, no it doesn't. It does smack of a publicity exercise though about how they are the only company who can lay this cable thats never been done before.
