Just watched the Golden Tate / Greg Jennings incident. Fucking wow. How could they get it so wrong?

My guess is that the interim refs have been told to call anything close to a TD a TD, because all scoring plays are going to be reviewed. Better to call it a TD and have it reviewed than overturn a potential TD and not have it go to review for the correct ruling.

In my mind the review booth should have overturned the TD - that's where the failure is. The refs on the field did their jobs, but the review booth failed to hand down the correct ruling. And it turns out the review booth is being run by actual NFL officials (ie not part-time scabs).

The reality is these guys are under the micorscope, and the normal officials get stuff wrong all the time as well - they just don't have the same level of scrutiny as these part-timers do. Don't get me wrong, week 3 will go down in infamy as the worst officiated week of NFL in history. But part of the blame belongs to the normal officals who are running the review booths - it doesn't lay solely with the on-field scabs....
