Sitting here wearing my alt 49ers jersey, wow. Just fucking wow! What an awesome game between the 49ers & Saints. SF did extremely welland deserved the win. :run: :run: :run: :run:

Most of you laughed when I mented SF & playoffs in the same sentence, what you say haters?

Tell em about it!

Any predictions from the games that are left?

As much as I have a soft spot for the Broncos, I think the Patriots will be too strong for them. I fee l that the Packers are still the team to beat this year, they've just been so consistent and continue to work (Aaron Rodgers helps quite a bit too!). For me the dark horse is the Ravens, they cleaned up the 49ers not long ago and feel that they'll now wear the underdog badge in the playoff series.

Nah I know fuck all about NFL, I've really only started watching this summer. I do like the Broncos as well (surprise surprise) but new England are doing it easy. I got up for the 49ers cos a mate has a lot of money on em. Glad I did.

But Packers will win it surely.

Was a damn awesome finish to the match. Anyone else loose picture in the dying minutes? Just as the second last tackle was made, I thought it wasn't coming back on

I've had and still have all home teams winning this weekend. I figured SF would be able to slow down NO enough while taking advantage of their terrible defense on the road to get the win. Saints are yet to win a road playoff game...ever. They need to upgrade their defense in the offseason otherwise they'll have to hope they can get home field next season, which will be a tough ask given their division is getting tougher with Carolina about to come on, and the NFC in general is loaded these days.

Looking ahead in terms of matchups for the Superbowl, I believe Niners/Ravens and Packers/Patriots would present the best matchups.

Packers' best chance of taking out the Superbowl lies with their offense ie Aaron Rodgers putting up at least 35 per game, because their defense is literally the worst in the NFL.

Imagine a Packers/Patriots Superbowl, 70-67 scoreline or something.

I forsee a Niners/Ravens Superbowl if someone puts a gun to my head. There comes a time where tough defense will rough up these pretty boy offensive teams, and that time will be next week.

Pretty boy Packers one and done! Smacked in the mouth by the tough Giants defense.

Niners/Giants will be a very hard-hitting game.

Seemed obvious the Packers would be in trouble when they had to play defense. I thought it would be the 49ers that got them if anyone did.

BTW Candy I have to ask how you feel about Ryan Fitzpatricks contract.

They jumped the gun giving him the big dollars just because he put up a lot of yards against NE in the first game. I could throw for 300 yards on that defense.

Interesting little fact - the Giants in their history have never lost a conference championship game.

Oh the 49ers. Where I'm going to have to put up with all the fucktardery of my adopted city hosting an NFL team without the glamour and prestige of the city's name being attached. Kiely Blvd is going to be a fucking zoo on game days along with the Steven's Creek/Lawrence exit coming off I-280S and the Saratoga Ave exit coming off I-280N.

I think I'm going to leave town during home games. Go down to Monterey or something. Thankfully it's still 2-4 years away.

I read somewhere that teams beating the defending Superbowl champions are 1-11 the week after.

Giants defense held up really well today. Should hold us in good stead come Super Bowl. Eli has been fantastic. Wins this super bowl he's better than his bro. In my opinion!

Both 49ers playoff games this season were classics for two different reasons. Today was one of the best defensive battles I've seen in a very long time....a really really long time given the league and rules are geared around offense these days.

Niners were good enough to win apart from the one area I thought they'd have the big advantage today in those sorts of conditions - special teams. Two special teams turnovers and there goes a spot in the Superbowl. That last turnover in OT was soul-crushing.

So now we get a rematch from a few years ago, which was one of the best Superbowls ever played. Going to be hard to pick against the Giants, they're a more complete team than New England.
Eli has been fantastic. Wins this super bowl he's better than his bro. In my opinion!
Win or lose Eli will be held in higher regard by the time he reties based on post-season performance. Statistically Peyton blows him up, but Eli's post-season record will see him held higher I believe.

I've watched Peyton's entire pro career thus far and none of his playoff wins were as impressive as Eli's today given the conditions, the defense that hit him every 5 seconds...and on the road.

Both are going to HOF though.

The question I ask is this - if you're in the 4th quarter in a road playoff game, down by 4 and you need a winning touchdown drive would you want Eli or Peyton?

No-brainer.

If you want 4500 passing yards and 42 touchdowns in the first 16 games, that too is a no-brainer.

Hint - both questions have different answers.

I both agree and disagree for the reasons you've already cited,
but DAMN, I'm going to have some fun saying "BETTER THAN PEYTON!" for the next fortnight and hopefully more.
