I feel really really bad for Manning. Having such an all-time great season only to get blown the fuck up in the Superbowl.
It's like when the Patriots went 18-1; the loss in the last game of the year wipes everything else out.

Just watched Russell Wilson on Dave Letterman. What an intelligent, down to earth young fella. Loved watching nfl this season, helped that I worked at night so I could watch a lot of games.

It wasn’t a great game. But it was entertaining to watch. Seattle put on a clinic. A well oiled machine. Did Seattle make any mistakes at all? I’m struggling to think of any.
It is amazing to watch Seattle dominate in the manner they did. And sit there wondering wtf went wrong for Denver. They’re A LOT better than that on paper.
The game was clearly won by Seattles defence, but you have to wonder if Seattle also somehow broke Peytons systems, and Denver had no real planB or panicked.
As long as Seattle retain talent in the off season and stay injury free next year, it’s hard not to see them coming back for another one.

It was the best single-game performance by a defense that I've ever seen in my life.

I read an article on Sherman, he says that the Seahawks secondary were able to read Peyton's pre-snap hand signals, they were calling out the plays to each other in the backfield. Sherman went on to say that if Peyton had thrown sin some double moves, the Seahawks would've been exposed as they were totally committed to the play.Twiztid Elf wrote:have to wonder if Seattle also somehow broke Peytons systems
Also interesting to see Sherman come out syaing that the NFC Championship game against the 49ers was the real Super Bowl. Definitely going to be an interesting off season

Re: NFL Season 14-15 (Pg 11) | Off Season - Free Agency
Free agency is going crazy today!
Biggest news is that Donte Whitner is leaving the 49ers sadly & signed with the Browns. Antoine Bethea signed on from the Colts to replace him. I'd personally rather keep the big hitting style of Whitner.
Jonathan Martin has also been traded from the Dolphins to 49ers for a draft pick. Harbaugh obviously had a lot to do with this as Martin was under him at Stanford.
Boldin re-signed the other week, Eric Wright just confirmed for another year, Phil Dawson to stay on kicking duties, Carlos Rogers cut (paid too much) & we acquired a backup QB form Jacksonville...(really?).
Still a fair bit of stuff to go with the most important being to re-sign Kaep. Looks like he wants approx $18mil per year though, blame stupid contracts to Cutler & Romo for that. The upcoming draft will definitely be interesting, I expect the 49ers to trade up in the 1st round for a WR.

Whitner is an idiot. I know the Browns are his hometown team, but why the fuck would you leave a true contender to go to the worst franchise in the NFL?

Money really, he's now paid as a top 10 safety at the Browns. No way was he going to get that money at SF.Candy Arse wrote:Whitner is an idiot. I know the Browns are his hometown team, but why the fuck would you leave a true contender to go to the worst franchise in the NFL?

They're fighting for the right to lose to Seattle/San Fran/Green Bay/New Orleans in the Superbowl.

Re: NFL Season 14-15 (Pg 11) | Off Season - Free Agency
Not sure if anyone knows but 7/7Mate will be broadcasting the NFL now. Apologies if this has been mentioned.

THE Seven Network has picked up another sports broadcast rights package, securing a five-year agreement for coverage of the National Football League, the biggest sport in the United States.
Seven has secured the free-to-air broadcast television rights and will screen the US winter sport on Seven and 7mate, including America’s most-watched television event, the Super Bowl.
ESPN, part of the Walt Disney Company, retains pay-TV rights in Australia.
Seven will broadcast three consecutive games live on Sunday, concluding with NFL Sunday Night Football on 7mate on Monday. Seven will also broadcast the NFL Playoffs live and marquee NFL games such as the traditional Kick-off game and Thanksgiving NFL matches.
7mate will telecast other NFL programs, including Hard Knocks, Sound FX, A Football Life, Road to the Super Bowl, Road to the Playoffs and America’s Game: The Super Bowl Champions.
Seven said the partnership expands beyond television to Seven’s digital platforms, including online and Hybrid Broadcast Broadband Television for select NFL programming and video clips on Seven’s primary digital properties.
Traffic volumes for NFL.com and m.nfl.com in Australia rank in the top 5 for the NFL globally. Seven will be the digital advertising representatives for those sites and will promote an NFL Game Pass digital subscription product for PCs, tablets and smartphones.
“This is a great signing,” Seven’s head of sport Saul Shtein said.
“We are delighted to be partners with the NFL in Australia. The signing of the NFL to Seven reaffirms a key strategy in our future: a focus on live coverage of major sports events across our broadcast television platform and leveraging and expanding that presence into new forms of content delivery.
“We are looking forward to working with the NFL and its other media partners to deliver all-encompassing coverage across a number of our broadcast platforms.
NFL vice-president of international media and business development Julie Moeller said the Seven deal would give fans “broader access to our content on free television and across their digital platforms”.
She said the partnership would “extend across many different areas of our business” and showcase its programming year-round.
Re: NFL Season 14-15 (Pg 11) | Off Season - Free Agency
Good stuff.
I've been getting NFL Game Pass annually over the last few years, so it doesn't really affect me. But's it's good to see we still have an Aussie station interested in broadcasting NFL to free to air.
I hope they do the America's Game and A Football Life justice by showing them at decent times, rather than paying lip service to it and broadcasting it at 2:00am. Some of those are excellent 'documentaries' (sportumentaries?).
On that note - if any of you guys haven't had the chance to watch ESPN 30 for 30's, I highly recommend them. I'm sure the guys here who have FOX have had a chance, but everyone else should seek other ways of getting your hands on them and checking them out. Some of them are sensational. The Bo Jackson one in particular is a standout for me - he's the main reason why I started following the Raiders.

Re: NFL Season 14-15 (Pg 11) | Pre Season
With the Hall of Fame out of the way, the 1st preseason game was between the Giants & Bills (Giants win 17-13). Preseason games don't say much for the regular season, however 2yrs ago Kaepernick showed his goods & QB that season.
Looking forward to seeing the NFL back on!

Re: NFL Season 14-15 (Pg 11) | GAME ON! - Fri 5/9
Anyone watch much pre season?
For me, the 49ers offense need to get their shit in order quick. Too many dropped passes & lost balls, amazed that after the cut both Blaine Gabbert & Josh Johnson are the backup QBs. I personally prefer Johnson, however Gabbert gets $2mil in the bank no matter what, so I guess they might as well make the most of it.
I read this morning that Alex Boone & the 49ers have sorted out the contract dispute & he'll back on the offensive line. This makes a massive difference & should Kaep some more time to pick his throws. Unfortunately Ray MacDonald just got bailed out of jail for domestic abuse, not much has been said about what happened but he's saying that the truth will be revealed...hopefully it's not what it all seems or I can see the NFL going to town on him after the Ray Rice debacle (KO'ing his partner in a casino).
For defense, I think they played better than I thought. The younger players picked uyp in the draft like Jimmie Ward, Aaron Lynch & Chris Borland have impressed. The big hit though is Aldon Smith being out for 9 games, much harsher judgement than I expected but I guess he needs to get it into his head to stop doing stupid shit.
Apart from the Niners, I caught a Patriots & Seahawks game. I really see the Patriots taking it to the AFC, specially now that the receiving have had time learning the system & as long as they get where they should be, Brady will get them the ball. Regarding the Seahawks, well, not much can be said except they look better. I wouldn't put it passed them to dominate like they did last year & barring any major injuries or PED suspensions (always likely with them), go all the way tot he Superbowl. Hopefully the 49ers can sort out the wrinkles & stop this form being the case though & finally get that six.

Didn't watch a single second, no interest in worthless pre-season games. Broncos, Patriots, Colts and Ravens to be the best in the AFC. Seattle, New Orleans, Green Bay and Philly will win their divisions.
