Earthquake thread

Post by Peppermint Lounge »

I thought it was a wind gust, looked outside and saw the trees were still. Took my brain a few seconds to concede it was an earth tremor. Pandemic, riots, earthquake. Good end of days material.

Watching the craziness unfold live. Hope all ranchers are safe.

The riot cops have a better loadout than my Dark Souls character.

We all survived in our house...absolutely no casualties.

Well considering our home is in the process of repackaging the stumps because it’s sinking (we have large gaps where the floor and walls meet down our hallway) I thought the house was going to collapse after the shaking continued for like 30 seconds.

But thankfully I checked online and wouldn’t you know it “earthquake” was trending in Melbourne, so my mind was at ease in a way. But I was terrified at the time.

My Dad had a close call. Him and a bunch of other older gentleman have been volunteering their time to fix up their bowls club in Mt Eliza. A bodgy old shade structure came down as a couple of them were working on it. Two of them ended up with in hospital with some broken bones (arm and ribs). My Dad is fine but pretty shaken up as they're all mates and he was right next to it when it happened.

Im in Geelong and was at work when it happened. Currently have the flu and thought I was having a dizzy spell or something. Was standing by my next and noticed it was shaking and wasn't sure if I saw it shaking and gave it a little shake myself for some reason. Then the boss came in and told us to leave and go outside cause there was a earth quake....

I think the old ring of fire is having a few episodes around NZ again. We had a very.minute quake (1.8 ) just 40-60kms South West of Auckland a few days ago and then another small one on Great Barrier Island (around 2.5) which is west of Auckland, few hours on a ferry. I know they're tiny but it's very interesting given we do t usually get them around those spots, normally they're around the bottom east of the North Island or in recent times Christchurch. Funnily enough, before that big quake in Chch 10yrs ago, they did t even know there was a fault line there.
