Hemlock Grove
it's a Netflix original series...
Based on a book about two teenage boys investigating murders in their sleepy town. One is a werewolf the other is fuck knows what at the moment. It's bizarre and awesome. I highly recommend it. Amazon Eve is a giant.

Re: TV Shows
Did you see the fourth season of AD? Hurwitz has long said S4 was act one of a three-act story.
Re: TV Shows
Awesome news. Sculli was right, picked up massively. Would love another season.
Re: TV Shows
Yes. It was an unnecessary contribution to the world. It wasn't bad. But all these talented people should do new things, not continue to try to recapture old glory.Scullibundo wrote:Did you see the fourth season of AD?
And what happened to Portia Di Rossi's face?

Re: TV Shows
Recapture old glory? It was one of - if not the only example of a show returning after cancellation that DIDN'T try to cater to the fanbase through old, worn-out jokes, but instead continued to strive for something new and ambitious. And I don't care for the criticism of something being 'unnecessary' when we're talking about a new entry into any artistic medium. Nothing is necessary.
However, I will agree that Portia Di Rossi's plastic surgery was completely unnecessary.
Most of these talented people are struggling for major acting gigs. Bateman, Cera and Arnett have pretty good alternative options, but out of the rest of the cast, only Jeffrey Tambor really gets any work - the biggest of which are two minute cameos in the Hangover series these days.

Re: TV Shows
I have really enjoyed the second season of The Newsroom so far. I know it's a bit corny and the humour isn't always the best but I still want to keep watching it. And I have a crush on Sloan Sabbith (Olivia Munn).

Re: TV Shows
Have yet to watch the latest ep, but yeah I'm still enjoying The Newsroom.
Boardwalk Empire returns in a couple weeks! I'm super excited. The second half of Season 3 was fucking out of control.

Re: TV Shows
Strike Back is a English Action/Drama show about a secretive branch of MI6 known as Branch 20 who operate high risk missions all over the world, e.g Iraq, Africa, Pakistan etc. Its based on a Novel written by a former SAS soldier.
Its well written, good acting, shot well and a good blend of Action/Drama. Reminds me of 24 in some sorts but the drama is better ( doesnt drag on ) and the action is just as good if not better.

Under the Dome
There's some serious subtext going on in this show and it develops more every week. Love it.

Re: TV Shows
Yeah but it's pretty bad. I'm watching it but I watched Defiance. One thing I really dislike is the opening intro monologue by the reporter. Absolute cornball. I think Dean Norris has picked as dodgy a show to do outside of Breaking Bad as did Giancarlo Esposito choosing to do Revolution after BB. Anyhow, Revolution improved somewhat. Hopefully Under the Dome does too.
Re: TV Shows
Ugh tell me about it.
This lady
Whilst cute is a terrible actor and is so unbelievable in a position of authority.
Thankfully the guy playing 'Big Jim' is pretty damn good, and the themes of the show are pretty strong. Some of the other actors aren't bad either.

I've been enjoying Orange is the New Black, which is a comedy/drama from the creator of Weeds. It's about a woman who gets sent to a low-security prison.

Re: TV Shows
Under the Dome - anything directly related to the dome is great. Everything else is a steaming turd. Big Jim is quick to kill anyone yet he balks at the new chick because she says she has stuff on him and it will get out if he kills her. Who the fuck is she telling in a tiny segregated community? Also I would have driven the boat into that chick when she fell out... Jim should kill more.
Revolution is terrible. I was with the first 10 eps which was all about finding the brother, ep 11 after the mid season break he dies. Fuck you. What a waste of half a season... At least they nuked shit in the final ep.

Re: TV Shows
Defiance has had me redefine what I rate as terrible. Revolution is merely "pretty bad" by comparison. Under the Dome sits between the two right now.
