We all know Nintendo started with playing cards, and progressed through other such notable products as instant mashed potato before settling on videogames as their main source of income (the other being harvesting the souls of children) - and here's a set of photos of toys and other crap they churned out before 1980. It really makes it clear how much of a Gunpei Yoki love-fest WarioWare was. Via BoingBoing.

Wouldn't throwing said items be easier and more accurate and also increase the impact?

I'd think that machine hits each ball quite hard to send it on it's tragectory too which would just result in the thing being covered in broken eggs or burst water balloons.
