Last Resort - TV
U.S Sub is given orders to nuke Pakistan but the orders don't come through the correct channel. The captain questions the order and is therefore relieved of duty. His second is promoted but he also questions the order. The U.S attacks their own sub. The sub takes refuge in Bali or New Zealand and the stand off begins.
First episode was pretty good. I'll stick around for a while.

Yeah watched this the other day. A few familiar faces and story seems ok so far so will keep watching for the moment.

Re: Last Resort - TV
I really enjoyed this show. One thing that worries me though is which direction its going to head in.
I remember hearing about the plot months ago and remember along with the whole refusing orders bit they decide to set up their own nation on the island. From what I remember this was more what the show was going to be about rather than anything else. Kinda like Lost but by choice.
After sitting through the episode and getting all interested in the unfolding conspiracies I was actually a bit put off when the captain did his little speech at the end about maybe they are all already home and how they could make a new go about it. I thought bugger that I want more nukes!
Will see how it goes.

Without having seen the second episode yet, I get the feeling you're on the money.
Re: Last Resort - TV
This show is ludicrous. The characters are all stereotypes we've seen thrashed to death in countless hours of television and movies before. The show is everything you would expect and has no surprises. The writing has no heart and nothing interesting to say about anything. It's essentially a Tom Clancy novel.

Just watched the first ep last night and while I enjoyed it I fail to see what else you can do with the series. I've read critics saying ep 2 and 3 are a bit dull but it picks up again after that.

Yeah Ep2 was a big drop from the first. I'm hoping it picks up, but the ratings aren't that great anyway so it will probably be off the air by then.

The way American commercial television networks drop shows is so brutal.

Ohh FFs.
Wait, I don't watch this show. There is no evidence whatsoever that I continued watching after the first episode or two. So this news means absolutely nothing to me because I don't watch it. And I don't care who stole the Nuclear Activation Key and wouldn't watch to find out either.

Excellent news. Now they can cram in some escalation and resolution rather than dragging it out into a whimpering demise.
