Sucking 80MB of precious RAM just to display one tab with this very forum?
No thanks.

80mb isnt that much when u have 1-2gb ram, which most people who use FF will probably have.
Security benefits and handy extensions like mouse gestures and flash ad disablers are nice.
Just had a quick look at the popular extensions:
Video Downloader
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2390/ " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Just updated my extensions and installed a bunch of new ones, with 3 tabs my memory usage is 50mb. Maybe something is wrong with yours.

Firefox's memory leaks are well documented.

47mb RAM usage with firefox 2.0 beta
Well considering that the poor masses still use internet exploder, I think that IE is the worlds most over rated software. Either that or Windows. Most under rated umm..........Qbasic

Just because something is popular doesn't automatically make it overrated.

Yeah, I have 3 tabs open too and usage is at 50MB. I have an embedded Flash video playing in one of the tabs as well.
Currently playing: Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition (PC), Far Cry 4 (PC), FIFA 23 (Series X)

Get Maxathon and fuck firefox off as your secondary browser.
Better tabbing, has mouse gestures popup blocking etc etc etc.
It will also ask to resume previous pages which would have helped you nicely!

I'm running 3 browsers at the moment:
Firefox - 35megs
Camino - 45megs
Safari - 75megs
To its credit Firefox is much more stable than it once was. It used to crash a lot when I opened it up. Camino is a lot more stable though but it does have trouble with some websites. Safari isn't too bad but it hates Java (hence the need for Camino). Firefox is just for general browsing.

why all three? i run safari as my everyday and camino if something hates safari and don't have any problems
oh and you know about saft for safari, right? you need it if safari's going to be any kind of competitor to firefox...crash protection and a bunch of other stuff make it worthwhile, find it on a torrent somewhere or cough up the $16..

I think Tab Mix Plus extension can recover web pages from a crash. If not it'll be in the popular/top rated extensions. Works great

yeah, it used to be a lot lighter, back when it was called Phoenix and then Firebird.
...it's still better than IE though - IE hides its RAM useage under a whole stack of other processes

I prefer Opera for some reason. I used to use Firefox but then I dont know why I changed.
