That X-Men one is probably my favourite.
Re: Best cartoon show intros
Samurai Pizza Cats?
I think I still know all the words.
The US DBZ intro was pretty great as well imo. In Europe there were a heap of different versions and they're all pretty lame and soft. Showing the badass US version to Spanish, French and Italians on different occasions, they were all really blown away.

Candy should have posted the proper Macross.

It's the closing theme but wotevs it would make me sad when it played coz it meant the show was finished.

Sons of a bitches. You didn't include thundercats.
Whoah I got a hard dick thinking about catgirls. Cheetara in the new TC cartoon gave me a boner after they made her sexier than usual.
80s = the time when animators still gave a shit about realistic looking proportions of people.
Mumra's psychotic scream of agony deserves an award.
"WWWRRAAAAGGGGH!!" That is what happens when xbots get a RROD and need to send it off for a temporary fix.
bare minimum a cartoon intro should look something like this:
Show us as much action in the intro with villains fighting the good guys and quick cuts so you only get a glimpse of the action but not the whole scene so there is a bit of mystery as to what we can expect later on.
Japanese x-men intro (Jim Lee cross hatching and inking to make mutants look more scary) sounds like the guy who sings the fist of the north star intro lol
In the japanese version Xavier looks like a pimp without a cane.
Anything with rock or metal music can work for Iron Man/megaman/transformers:

I mentioned this in another thread somewhere but there is a newer reanimated version of this for the pachinko games:
harmony gold will probably use that for robotech, remove the credits, and say they made it.
more clips from the pachinko game in good quality: (highly recommended to watch - it is what SDFM would look like today if redone in high quality)
Edit:
fans of technoman might want to watch this series and see if they can spot blade in it lol:

I had it ready to go but then again I could have sat here all night and put heaps of shit up. I knew someone else would mention it.GameHED wrote:Sons of a bitches. You didn't include thundercats.
However check out this fan edit for the latest cartoon -
Fantastic IMO.
I like this purely because of the music alone.

Also I didn't post Macross because the music in the Robotech intro is superior. Fact.

Re: Best cartoon show intros
Macross and Robotech are two seperate things. It would not be fair to even compare them.
Robo is going more for the heroic feel of advanced tech as the prime theme where man has nothing to fear from alien invasion thanks to the power of the tech.
While macross is more of a soap which focuses on the pilots and their relationships and careers, with war and mecha as the backdrop.
Robo was more for the kiddies imo.
I am mostly a macross purist though so I can admit that maybe I am being biased. Macross is the more realistic story wheras robo is more of a fantasy show which doesn't explain the Protoculture in enough depth.
I would love to see a robotech universe completely americanised and adapted for the hard sci fi audience who want something like Armored Trooper Votoms feel to it. (ie as much focus on the ground troops in destroids who have to fight in the dirt as the guys in the planes)
One thing macross neglects is the ground pounder robots. Gundamm manages to cater to all 4 things: air battles, space battles (including ship to ship fighting like star wars), ground and sea.
The valkyrie (transformes into three modes) is supposed to be the thing that does all of them (except the sea) so this means you rarely get to see robots that are dedicated to one thing like you get in gundam. (gundam 8th MS Team for example) The one exception to this is the Konig Monster which is a 3 mode heavy weight ground robot that can fly around in space as a shuttle/bomber and on the ground as a long range robot with powerful guns that rip apart small ships. Glad to have seen that one in Macross Frontier.
I wonder if there will be another robotech game? Would love to see a game that spans all three sagas made by a good game devloper who are fans of the show and will treat it with respect.
I remember reading the Jack Mckinney novels of robotech and they were pretty good. Maybe they can hire this writer to help with coming up with a story for a videogame to flesh out the universe?
why can't we have a robotech sequel that looks like this? (for once the main character is a bit manly and not a skinny teen?)

Yup, me too. Was on Agro's Cartoon Connection.
Re: Best cartoon show intros
Oh man I totally loved that one! And I have no freaking idea why, and I know I never got to see what happened enough, or something. Maybe just the big ship with some weird power... I dunno. Thanks for bringing that back to my memory.. would never have known what it was otherwise.
With that Disney stuff back there, I'm surprised Ducktales did not get a mention. Who can't like the Ducktales intro song?
