Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
I watched a couple of games last night. Very fun to watch, didn't realise Wallace was playing for Scotland. Cool stuff that the USA progressed but they are headed for slaughter. The quality was lower than qld cup so Australia should belt them... which we already knew.

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
Pretty amazing that in the history of World Cup games, only 4 players had scored 4 tries in a match for Australia. Yet in a single game two players managed to do so. Darius Boyd has been shit this World Cup. Goes to show just how crucial GI is to his form for QLD. in a slaughtering where his teammates ran riot, he ran 3 times each half and didnt bust a single tackle or have a linebreak. The only back not to do so.
Too many players in the team on reputation IMO. Thaiday and Tamou are playing average at best, Tate and Boyd have been pretty poor also. IMO Cronk and Slater had been well below what you expect also. Inglis being the better fullback, DCE being the better half. Sadly our team is do far above the rest (cept the Kiwis) that we can smash teams regardless of a few players being deadweight. If we dont pick on form against the Kiwis, we will be shown up IMO

It's a shame we'll never see the kangaroos vs all blacks.

You know the ABs are undefeated this year 14 from 14 and they currently hold every possible Rugby Union trophy?

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
Exactly. And no one has even scored a try against Australia in their past 4 games.
What I'm saying is they're both classy teams and it'd be great if they could square off.

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
It's actually 5 games. If Australia had gone into the first game against England having played a warm up game, and with Jarryd Hayne in the team. We could have potentially not conceded a try in that game also.Madmya wrote:Exactly. And no one has even scored a try against Australia in their past 4 games.
What I'm saying is they're both classy teams and it'd be great if they could square off.
The last try scored against Australia was in the 77th minute of our first game. We then only had 2 penalties goals kicked against us in the next 5 games. So it was over 400 minutes since the last try was scored against us.
Game 1 - 5 tries to 4 (28 - 20) vs England
Game 2 - 6 tries to 0 (34-2) vs Fiji
Game 3 - 9 tries to 0 (50-0) vs Ireland
Game 4 - 12 tries to 0 (62-0) vs USA
Game 5 - 11 tries to 0 (64-0) vs Fiji
Game 6 - 5 tries to 0 (34-2) vs New Zealand
So all up we scored 48 tries to 4. For a total score line of 272 to 24. That's facing both of the teams that were considered contenders for the world cup.
Even more impressive is that first game was our warmup match basically, and for the remaining 5 games we scored 43 tries to 0. For a scoreline of 244-4. Giving an average scoreline of 48.8 to 0.8.
Nothing makes up for losing the last world cup. But winning so convincingly this time around is a great way to prove that they are the best Rugby League team in the world without a doubt.
Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
NRL Draw is up.
Typical Boncos bias in the draw - especially early on. Check out the first 11 weeks and how many extra days of rest the Boncos get vs their opponents:
Week Day Opponent extra days rest
1 Fri Bulldogs 0
2 Fri Cowboys 1
3 Fri Roosters 1
4 Fri Manly 2
5 Fri Eels 1
6 Fri Titans 2
7 Fri Knights 1
8 Fri Bunnies 0
9 Fri Cowboys 1
10 Fri Titans 1
11 Sat Tigers 1
That's an average of one day extra rest over each opponent they play in the first 11 rounds. It could be argued they got an extra week's rest over the Bulldogs in round 1 since they didn't make the finals last year.
My prediction: Broncos start the season strong on the back of a favourable schedule then fall off later in the year when the schedule couldn't possibly be just as biased for them.
Oh yeah - and 10 straight weeks of Friday Night Boncos to open the season in Qld. Yay.

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
It's not Broncos bias you cunt rag, it's blatant raping of the football product with no consideration for fans of the game. I'm furious about this draw, it is terrible. I'm consigned to another year of missing out on going to Broncos games. I just can't stand the way the game is at the moment.
Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
Consistently getting 7 days of rest between games compared to your opponent's 6 days of rest?
Intentional or not, the draw is biased in favour of the Broncos. I can't see how you could argue against that with a shred of logic...

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
Yes, sorry, I took your opening sentence that there's some form of Broncos bias within channel 9 rather than the draw itself. What you've said is probably bang on, it ensures a good start to the season before we fall away later on. I don't think having Friday night games in the first 10 weeks is good for us in terms of the whole season.

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
Looks like I won't be watching most of the first half of the season then. Extremely lucky if we get any live Broncos games here in Sydney on a Friday night. I can't stand watching the second Friday night game laden with ads so Nine can make up the revenue missed from restricted inventory as the first game is live.

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
All of us regulars in this thread are in for a quiet year next year outside of QLD winning Origin.
Raiders are spoon certainties, Broncos will be terrible (which admittedly is good for the sport), Eels are a joke, Canterbury are on the way down...Penrith are probably another year away from making some noise.
Wake me up when Ricky Stuart is coming out as Raiders halfback, not Raiders coach.

Re: Official NRL 2013 Thread | Sixty Eight is enough
David Gyngell has already pretty much blamed the lower ratings last year to the Broncos' performances. So the Broncos being terrible IS bad for the sport.
Is Milford going to sit out the season?

ahh I want to rub it in but that's just too harsh even for me. I do feel for Raiders fans. Those polynesian boys are big on family. Lolled at Ricky's comments but.
