Reka I think the intention is for regular contributors to take part in this bet, not people who pop up out of nowhere every 2-3 years when their team wins a few games.

So to clarify $500 down with the entire
pot winner being the supporter(s) of the NRL team who wins the next premiership?

Yes I believe so. So if any other Raiders fans turn up then I'll have to share it with them.

Nice idea, but not for $500 (I'm not a gambler ok).

Plus, if Panthers win it first then mx deserves to take it all!

No arguments here.

Let's find out who is for real and who is a bitch. If you're in, nominate your team.

Me, Canberra Raiders. $500 no problem.

Get on board motherfuckers, let's get a big fat pot happening here.

What the fuck? I'm already down. And really, this did come about because a raiders and a Parramatta fan were predicting no Broncos premierships for eons, not the bought bulldogs team playing their shit brand of football.

I'm out if pep and reka are in.

Can't see it happening in my life time. Nor could I afford to be part of the bet if I wanted to.

Although I think we did a lot to help the Sharks have a pretty good chance. Absolutely awesome side for 2013:

1. Michael Gordon
2. Beau Ryan
3. Ben Pommeroy
4. Ricky Leutele
5. Jono Wright*
6. Todd Carney
7. Chad Townsend*
8. Paul Gallen (c)
9. Isacc De Gois
10. Ben Ross
11. Luke Lewis
12. Anthony Tupou
13. Wade Graham

14. John Morris
15. Bryce Gibbs
16. Andrew Fifita
17. Jason Bakuya*

*Might not be part of the full strength side.

Depth or possibly in place of the blokes above includes Chris Heighington, Nathan Gardner, Jeff Robson, Nathan Stapleton, Sam Tagatese, Matthew Wright, Stewart Mills and Tyrone Peachey.

The forward pack is outstanding, the halves are better then most and the backline is probably the best they have had in over a decade, but is still the big weakness. But some solid backs behind a dominant forward pack and a good halves pairing could punch above their weight. I can also see them spending most of their time in oppositions halves with Michael Gordon being an excellent fullback at getting the team started in good field position, and that forward pack having no issues making 50+ metres a set.

I think the Panthers have the worth halfback in the competition, and I would still be upset if we signed Sandow. Both players are absolute shit... on occasion can look good, but on those occasions it stands to reason that any other half would have looked as good or better too.

Also Sandow is going to be even worse in defence in 2013, with his only defensive option now being illegal.

UNLUCKY Broncos winger Jharal Yow Yeh's NRL comeback plans have received another setback after undergoing more surgery on his ankle.

The Test and Queensland State of Origin flyer had been hopeful of being available for Brisbane's season opener against Manly at Suncorp Stadium on March 8 after making encouraging progress at training.

However, clean-up surgery on the horror ankle fracture he suffered in round four last March against South Sydney in Perth has all but sent Yow Yeh back to the drawing board.

Broncos coach Anthony Griffin conceded there was no short-term return in sight for the 23-year-old.

"It's just too hard to tell, he's obviously got a lot of complications," Griffin told ABC radio.

"He's back on his feet, he's in a running program.

"He's had another minor surgery the other week to clear up a bit of scar tissue, which then again sets him back a little bit but it had to be done.

"We've got our fingers crossed for him and we're really willing him along and doing everything we can, but it won't be in the short term."

Griffin said the operation was a case of short-term pain for long-term gain for Yow Yeh.

"I suppose it was something that had to happen for him to keep progressing," he said.

"With the extent of the injury he had, it wasn't an uncommon thing.

"The surgeons were not unhappy with it. It was just a clean-up that needed to free him up a little bit more.

"I'd hope that at some stage, he'd be able to play in the first half of the season, but it's very complicated.

"We just have to keep working with him and see how he goes."

As back-up for Yow Yeh, the Broncos had welcomed back winger Denan Kemp from the Dragons on a one-year second tier deal. He was a free agent after St George Illawarra decided not to re-sign him.

Broncos will do that to a player.

What an idiotic bet proposed by Candy BTW, should be a fixed amount indexed according to the odds for that season at the start of Round 1.

eg. $100 indexed based off 5:1 odds.
So for example, Storm win (@5.50) it would be $110. Rabbitohs win (@9.00) it would be $180. Broncos (@$15) = $300. Eels (@$21) = $420. If the Panthers got up it would be $1,020.

Because you, like most people, have failed to realise what the bet was really about.

I didn't propose it, I agreed with it.

I can understand trepidation from an Eels fan. If it were a bet on the next team to win the wooden spoon you'd be in great shape.

What are you offering for Eels higher up the ladder than the Raiders?

That's a lame bet.

Anyway, interesting to see what comes of this Essendon story with this Dank fella supplying them 'supplements'. Should he get found to have supplied illegal supplements to the team I wonder if they'll go back and look at his time at Manly in 2008 when they won the premiership. There could potentially be two cheating teams in the GF that year.

Haha was wondering about that. I thought we offloaded him a second time but just figured it was my imagination.

From the trials I'm just interested to see if Hodges gets a go at fullback.
