Apparently it's out:

Source

But it doesn't appear on the Windows Update site so I don't know what's going on.

Microsoft today released the final version of Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP and made it available for free download at the Internet Explorer 7 site.

IE7 is a significant upgrade to IE6, and offers tabbed browsing, an anti-phishing toolbar, a redesigned interface, and a variety of security features, including increased protection against rogue ActiveX controls. It's Microsoft's first launch of an all new browser since the release of IE6 in 2001.

Widespread distribution of the browser won't go into full effect until November, when it will be made available as a high-priority update via Automatic Updates, and will download automatically onto millions of users' desktops.
I'm downloading now. Hopefully it's a big improvement.

I've been playing around with IE7 for a little bit, HUGE improvement over IE6 (it's amazing what competition does for MS. Bear this in mind 360 fanboys  ) but there is one thing that annoys me:

In Firefox, I can go to my Bookmarks and open a new tab by clicking the middle mouse button. I've gotten so used to doing this I don't even realise I'm doing it. With IE7, I can't do it with my Favourites. Which sucks. I can't even right-click -> open in tab

So I'll be sticking with Firefox until MS fix this. Or somebody tells me how to do it :D

Not sure what you're doing wrong.

Drop down the favourites, right click on the one you want -> Open in New Tab

The Open in New Tab option isn't there :? Open is there, but that doesn't put the new page into a new tab :(

OK I figured it out

There is a little yellow star in the top left hand corner. Click this and your favourites appear with a blue arrow next to each link. Click the arrow to open in a new tab.

If you use Favourites in the Menu Bar (which I was), then this option to open in a new tab isn't available.

 @ Microsoft.

Yeah Firefox is great. Version 2.0 should be released within a week or two I imagine.
