Why don't we...
Re: Why don't we...
Because Reddit is full of misogynist, racist, manchild shitheels.

Can we say we're doing it and hope GameHED runs over there?

Re: Why don't we...
Personally I'd like to see Cletus and Lestat work with Nintendo to get this forum converted to a Miiverse page.
Re: Why don't we...
Ok, so let's say I make a proper case for GR on Reddit.
k?
Ok.
Firstly - you can't even discuss reddit unless we've all tried 'Reddit Enhancement Suite' or 'RES'.
It's an extension for most popular browsers that improves the appearance and usability of Reddit.
Here's the link for the Chrome version - http://redditenhancementsuite.com/download-chrome.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Here's the link for the Safari version - http://redditenhancementsuite.com/download-safari.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This greatly improves the usability and visual appeal beyond even phpBB. (espescially if you change the appearance to 'dark theme')
For example, topics posted could include img/ link information in the title, so if a topic relates to something you can forward straight to the content, and of course RES allows you to preview an image or video etc associated in the list of topics without clicking.
That way you can browse all the current content on the 'front page' of Games Ranch by previewing the links then if you see something particularly noteworthy you can go to the comments by all the users we know and love. (or course non link embedded topics are go as well).
Now,
You mention GameHED, well guess what? With Reddit, if every rancher throws him a simple downvote everytime he gets out of hand, those posts become invisible (can reveal those comments if you wish).
And this applies to all comments. So if froggy gets a little loose with his political commentary, we can reign him in, and we can reward Bruce with karma for being an all round awesome dude as well, just heap it on there.
And then there's, you know, how it looks on a phone!
So many sexy widgets that allow you to view GR so sexily on your phone. eyeah!
And then like, think about it. If, instead of posting every YT video to a thread, you post it individually, you'd get people commenting more, on a more diverse variety of topics, as individual YT videos manage to float to the front page, allowing people to comment specifically on that. Although you could still have a YT thread, or a mix of both.
This I think would make it a great way for us people, you people to find out what each other think about a wider variety of topics. More easily. Yeah so there!
Also, you could advertise on http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or http://www.reddit.com/r/australia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for new members (why you'd ever want to do that, I don't know).
Overall it IS actually a good idea. Despite what you old fuddy duddies suggest. So there! :p

Re: Why don't we...
No.
A forum/online community is about the people who use it, not what software it uses. Any move to being a subreddit would mean this community loses users on that transition and it would transform into something else. Sorry but it's not a good idea, it's actually a really dumb idea.

Re: Why don't we...
I suggest we just use the Wii U subreddit. It will be vacant soon and we can move in.
Re: Why don't we...
As much as reading a GameHED post is like sandpaper on man tits, I think adding an element of worry into how popular one's posts must be for them to maintain equal visibility... is wank. Ignore function or banhammer when Rocco steps out of line; short of that being punished for misbehaving is anti-GR I think.
That aside, I have no real opinion on the rest of it.
Edit - What rat said actually. I don't think there's some pressing need to find new members, but it would be good to not drop any.

Re: Why don't we...
It actually works pretty well though.
For starters, a user can choose not to have any posts hidden from them, or even change the amount of disapproval required to hide it. Besides, on a fairly tight board 9 times out of 10 content will mostly only be upvoted with that being the main engine of shuffling the front page. I'd assume there wouldn't be a whole lot of negativity being flung around in the form of downvotes between us, maybe just a distinct lack of upvotes, lol.
But it's there as a kind of stick that everybody wields. At the end of the day, what goes around comes around. With the karma train things reach equilibrium.
You could have a closed board that's only visible, or indeed you could have a totally private subreddit.

Re: Why don't we...
I'm still unhappy with this fancypants php business, I don't see why we can't go back to...the other one.

Re: Why don't we...
... ok
are there seriously no other redditors on GR?
Surely there's some.
Surely.
I mean there's
http://www.reddit.com/r/trees" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
and
http://www.reddit.com/r/woahdude" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
&
http://www.reddit.com/r/wtf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (nsfw)
&
and http://www.reddit.com/r/gonewild" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (nsfw) amateur porno submitted by cute redditors. w00t.
So many subreddits omigod.
Edit: and r/streetfights and an intersting variant there of, r/justiceporn where the videos are always about some asshole getting comeuppance. Gravy.

Re: Why don't we...
I don't even know what reddit is... Probably something for hipster douchebags.
Re: Why don't we...
Here's a quick sneak peak at a post from the front page of 'Gonewild' right now
titled 'I{F}ingered my bumhole too!' the {F} denoting that it is indeed a female in the following pictures.
[NSFW]
Brilliant.
That's what I call a thriving online community.

Lol, actually there's a hilarious community over on http://www.reddit.com/r/keto" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; where everyone swaps tips on how to cram the most butter and bacon into their mouths and the best ways to eat 0 carb.
Very funny community with some great trolling opportunities.
Would love to know your opinion on what they do at r/keto actually.

Re: Why don't we...
I don't need to look, but probably the same thing that people do in 99% of health and fitness discussions - talk shit about stuff they know little about.
Re: Why don't we...
Probably one of the funniest examples thereof...
oh...
blimey.

Re: Why don't we...
I seriously have no idea what it is. I looked at it once and it looked like a webpage from 1994.
