No, I'm referring to necessary changes in order for one to survive. I.e. PSN needed to be free or substantially cheaper to better Live because as it stands, offering the same thing Live has had for donkey's years at a price just would not work. Even if they did charge a substantially cheaper price, the next step by either company would be to implement it for free.Pat wrote:No, evolution is the non-random survival of random mutations. What you are referring to is called 'improvement'.
That's what I mean by evolution.
Xbox 1, wtf?Twiztid Elf wrote:The thing is, XMB needs to happen at the OS level as a TSR. How they could have shipped PS3 this gen without providing room for it in the memory map is just mind boggling. The Xbox1 had it last gen ffs.
I'm not really across these techo issues, but that's my take on why they're finding it tough to implement?

The game will usually have the option if it's able to be played online.GreyWizzard wrote:GreyWizzard wrote:okay, just explain something to me...
I am online with my PS3 and I want to invite a friend into a game. How do I do this? Just explain the whole process of playing a game with one of your friends please.
For instance, LEGO Star Wars I pause the game, go to Online Settings and select "Invite A Friend". The game then activates the friend invite mechanism built into the OS. From there I can choose participants, it sends it to their XMB and they join the game if they want.
If it's like Rock Band they see a notification saying "You got a message" and there's an invite in your messages.
Most of my games you have to do an invite in the game and there's no message thing. So you have to coordinate things in other ways if you're not both in the game.
It's definitely not ideal, but hey, it's free and it works. And at least we get dedicated servers

Anyone who thinks a superior online multiplayer platform will be free and incude all the great features of a paid service is nuts. Sony can't charge for what they offer....not yet. But give it time. At the moment the only real selling point for PSN is that it's free. The larger part of gamers wouldn't know the real differences between the two....and in truth I doubt anyone buys PS3 based on the online offerings at this point.
Sony won't wear the cost of PSN forever. But what will they do..announce a premium service similar to LIVE or will they say that nobody wants online multiplayer. They don't seem any more interested in online gaming than they were with the PS2.
LIVE subscription is way too high but at half the price, the service would be more than value for money. Just knowing what your friends are playing, crossgame chat and invites and messages make LIVE a very smooth experience. I'd always be happy to pay for that...so long as my friends also supported the service.
