The game is still awesome, it's just that nothing was done to bring it up to date. I bet it's the original code running on a VirtualPC type thing.Madmya wrote:This game kicks arse. Not sure why everyone is crying about it.
Go download one of the sourceports and see what they could have done with it.

There's HD textures for the walls in the Jonof port though. I prefered HD sprites to the 3d models just cuz it didn't make the game look as old. Simple poly models age much worse than sprites.
Considering the original game cd had so little data it could be rented then copied straight over to your HD for a full registered install, even back when pentiums were the new thing, more should've been done. Really slack.

The biggest difference is the way the engine renders the level. When you look up & down, it does an actual 3D perspective change, unlike the original PC (and XBLA) version that just warps the 2D view. What's extra annoying is that Ken Silverman, the guy that wrote the engine in the first place, actually wrote the Polymost renderer, yet 3D Realms couldn't be arsed sticking it in the XBLA version.ObSoLeTe wrote: but the level still looked shit
