Sorry Juz, the turnout was low so we fled the clubrooms to play with randoms. I didn't notice you come online.
Disappointingly, the game's net code still seems to be fucked. Voice chat in the lobby was breaking up to the degree where chat was impossible, but it seemed to work OK once in-game, bizarrely. The mystery smoke clouds cropped up a couple of times although never as bad as olden times. There was also still the problem where two cars that passed the line nearly simultaneously would then find that the official ranking put them seconds apart.
I still think it's a fun game though, and if anyone else wants to overlook these problems to play online then we might try it again.

I bought this today because I like wasting money and hooned around for a bit. As you would expect, braking distances and traction are much degraded. Also, powersliding much easier. It's hard to say what's realistic when you're using a control pad and aren't experiencing the forces, but to me the traction seemed too low. I was doing 90 degree turns in the city in the Enzo in 6th gear at 60km/h to try to bring the game down to speeds that would be familiar in real life, and the turning circle just seemed shit. Whether it's simulating realistic traction at 200km/h is anyone's guess.

Good of you to take the hit for the team.
I wonder what it would be like with the wheel. Importantly, it might make shopping more difficult.
Forza 2 might make me crack and buy the wheel (even though the graphics are supposedly sub-par whatever). What I really want though is GTR. I'm hoping it will be like Le Mans on the Dreamcast.

Still have mine... mind you, I only bought it a month or two ago at the last DSE sale! I haven't bought/owned much, but probably will soon (if we're teeing it up).

I picked it up for $12.50, what a fucking bargain. Visually it's nothing overly special, not in the face of the genre's best looking games like GT5 Prologue, Wipeout and Motorstorm 1/2, but fuck it's a pleasure to play. My early demo impression of it being a spiritual successor to the original and best Need For Speed appears to be spot on.
Jump in your nice sports car and go for a cruise around a massively impressive island, occasionally taking part in a race or some other activity. Love it!!
