Games Magazines
I've been going through some stuff, and realise that I got a massive stack of Next Generation and Edge magazines dating as far back as 97! Many are in perfect condition. I'm wondering if it's worth holding on to them for a few more years, selling them now (if people are even buying these things) or just chucking them out.
I'm thinking about ebaying, for example, a years worth of one of the magazines for one flat price...
Any words of wisdom from the Ranch?

Sad to say I reckon they're worthless and there's no market for it. But then you just know, the minute I chuck them away I'm going to find out that there are collectors that may want them. Although the difference between magazines from 50's-even the 80's and in recent years is that everything is computerised and backed up - lessening the value of one of these artefacts. I love one of the edge covers "Is this Game Over for Nintendo?". Little did they know that 10 years into the future they'd be making a mint of the generation of hardware that had just been divulged (ie gamecube).

I had a FULL complete collection of Super Play and Mean Machines (from the start to when it split). I sold them to a friend who has probably the best collection of C64 and Amiga stuff in Australia. He literally has a whole room full of large plastic boxes full of perfect condition C64/Amiga stuff. He is extremely pedantic and fussy about condition.
Which leaves me with Hyper 1-15 (he didn't want them) and Edge 1-100 (missing I think two issues - something like 8 and 14).

RIGHTEOUS FURY
Reminiscing through this thread reminded me of a Mean Machines Mean Yob reply to a smart arse letter:
"Sally forth and multiply your phallus cranium"
Got mid eighties to mid nineties consecutive issues of import and Australian computer game magazines boxed up in storage at my parents. I went nuts on them when I was a kid before the internet. I used to get so excited with a new issue in my hands. Probably spent more $$$ on mags than games...

I recently found my old collection when my Mum moved and told me to get all my old crap that I had left at her place.
Megazone from about '91/92 or so until its demise, Hyper 1-5 I think and then many random ones thereafter, PC Powerplay 1-10 or so, plus various UK mags (mostly Sega mags from around '92-'94), and a bunch of N64 era Next Gen.
Pretty cool looking through them after all these years.

You're kidding me?! I threw them in the rubbish yesterday and the garbage truck came this morning... I feel bad for both of us now... It was always going to be a self-fulfilling prophecy.BigSwingingUdders wrote:I'll take them all. Name your price inc postage to Brisbane.David Carney wrote:Edge

I only saved issue 70.

And 48 for Next Generation - the issue that declared Zelda OOT the game of the century and my very first issue (32 - August 1997).
