If you had to choose one console......
If you had no choice but to choose between one of the consoles you could keep, which one would you go with and why? should be interesting to see the results, no doubt the 360 will come up trumps and no doubt this thread will be shitted up in record time with Pat arguing to the hilt that the Wii is the superior option... Me, I'd probably go with the PS3. I prefer the games that have come out on it the past 12 months (Killzone 2, MAG, MLB The Show etc), and it's my blu ray player/media centre (well it was until I built a PC which runs off the TV now) which I dont think I could go without now.... I rarely touch my 360/Live these days. so much so i'm considering selling it and just keep my modded one.

Wii. Lol. I predict 2 votes for the Wii, Pats and Roccos. Oh maybe three, Paccos.

Pre-emptive blame for me?! Fuck, may as well live up to the hype then. OK, reasons I would choose each console: 360: XBLA, superior versions or versions at all of games like Portal 2, Orange Box, Trials HD, more releases of older games like SOTN. New ones like Crackdown and Alan Wake. Functionality of XBL doesnt sway me one way or the other now, but given the right game it could. Perfect Dark XBLA would be that game. Dreamcast DL support could mean Chu Chu Rocket comes out in future. Downside is not much first party or exclusive support anymore, although a shift to Natal will probably happen. PS3: Metal Gear, Pixeljunk series, Wipeout. Bluray player. Non-proprietary HDD support and PS2 backwards compatible for my system at least. Team Ico games. Region free. Downsides: poor PSN support for Australia, leap years. Wii: First party games are amongst the best released this gen. Obscure left field games like Madworld, No More Heroes, support from Treasure. Monster Hunter 3. The most diverse back catalogue available on VC/Wiiware. Lots of underappreciated gems. Downsides: some games dont get converted to PAL. Can be quite variable visually (some games look well even on HD sets, others look jaggy and messy). Releases of good games can be separated by months, or diluted by filler. Overall, if I wanted to pick a machine that will get the most use out of me it would be PS3 (Pixeljunk series, and including PS2 + bluray support is the clincher here). If it were just about games alone it would be Wii for the sheer variety, first party quality and retro support on offer.

Thats a very tough question! Based on the last 12 months or so, the PS3 has had some impressive exclusive games (that appeal to my taste) like Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain. Killzone 2 was also good, but it wasnt an overly memorable experience as a whole considering I didnt get into the multiplayer. The 360 has been very quiet for the last year or so as far as exclusives go, but it would have been hard to miss out on Forza 3 and Mass Effect 2. I'm also looking forward to Alan Wake, Splinter Cell (still hopeful it wont suck) and even Halo Reach is looking interesting. If I am playing online I also rate the 360 in a completely different league to PSN, even if it does cost $50 a year. The PS3 controller still shits me sometimes too. The triggers dont feel right and there is no excuse for the left stick and d-pad being arranged the way they are now...15 years ago when the PS1 came out it made sense but not now. So maybe I'll just vote for the Wii

easy one for me, 360. Having Halo 3 was a big selling point there but I really cant afford getting all of them like some crazy cashed up bogan. 360 is what most of my mates have so its best for Live though recently I havent been playing much stuff online.

If your PC runs off Windows 7, 360's are actually good media centres now.

chose ps3 because of a few reasons.
1: I like the XMB and the fact that it's in 1080p and everything is easy to navigate to, no annoying tabs to flip through.
2. best first party line up with tons of excellent games released and soon to be released.
3. PS3 is very quite compared to x360
4. blu ray playback, hdd standard on every console, better for games.
5.sick of paying for live, I barely use it anymore.
6. X360 hdds is way overpriced, I prefer to install my games but there's no way I'm buying a larger hdd.
7. multiplatform games means I can play them on my ps3 instead or even pc.
8. There's literally nothing left for me to look forward to ( besides the halo game) on x360.

In the end I voted for Wii because of GC backwards compatibility. Dont know who the second vote came from.

360 being broken hardware really hurts it in any objective console cock-off. If you have a PC then PS3 in a canter. If restricted to one platform then 360 gets up. Wii as a single platform is for casuals who bought it to flail amusingly with friends.

If I had to choose today, and if I didn't have my PC, I'd probably go with the PS3 + PlayTV option.
Having said that though I don't have a PS3 and I wouldn't sell my 360 and all of my games just to start again with the PS3.

I picked PS3. A year ago I woulod have said 360 (and I think I did, there's been a thread like this before) but now the PS3 is starting to hit its stride. PS3 + PC cover the vast majority of AAA gaming titles now.
Thankfully I don't have to just pick one. Everything for me thank you.

It was almost as brutal as the several Xbox Live outages that happen each year or even the fortnight waiting for a fucked 360 to return... but yeah, that whole 24 hours was a fucking killer....

Actually, a whole day where I couldn't play a game on my game console really pissed me off.
My xbox still allowed me to play games, I just couldn't show people I was playing games.
