The hardware looks to be the most powerful on the market, but yeah samsung update/support is shocking and I don't like UI which blatently rips off the iphone icons/grid look and feel.unfnknblvbl wrote:Hrmmm... I dunno, I've been turned off by the way Samsung treated the i7000/Galaxy with regards to firmware updates (ie: none)
Found out today my desire has been delayed, arrrghhh, although it may be a blessing in disguise. I've noticed the motorola milestone and acer liquid have dropped quite a bit in price same goes for the nexus one. So if they keep screwing me around I might just cancel the order and pick up one of those.

You couldnt have an fps game without multitouch. No controller and buttons type layout, so no fighters either, or platform games. Its pretty useless for games in generally actually.

Well, given that it's a mobile computing device, then yeah. That's a pretty good idea. I mean, it's got that iLife thing, doesn't it? Or maybe you want to connect a digital camera? Oh that's right, there's an overpriced, unnecessary adapter for that! What about if you want to print a document?Twit wrote:I'm missing the obvious answer. Fuck Apple and their "Let's sync everything via iTunes" theory of life.
Anyway, getting back to the topic at hand... Given that Multi-touch is only a relatively new feature in Android, I doubt games would suffer much from the lack of it.
On the other hand, pinch-to-zoom in Maps and the Browser is indeed pretty nice. The Desire also has pinch-to-zoom on the home screen for an 'expose' type of function that shows you the contents of all the screens at once.

I just put SenseUI (the 2.1 version) back on my HTC Magic. Man, it's good. Much better than the old version. So good, I'm almost tempted to rethink my N1 > Desire stance... but the more open N1 platform is still winning me over.

Hey I want to get one of these Desire ones from Clove, it's a bargain at au $550 for one of these phones! My crappy phone plan is now running out at the right time (May) so I want to get an Android (I'm with total agreeance with Pat's rantings on the iphone/ipad lol) but I have a few questions:
If the phone is from the UK from clove then do I have to do anything to get it to work here? Are sim cards universal?
What type of plan's are available for it here, like what would be compatible? Could I use an iphone plan? I'm with Optus at the moment but I'd port to someone decent if there's some sort of preferred plan for these things?
Do ug uys know how tough the HTC's are? I'm a serial phone breaker, I'd be interested to knwo your experiences with like normal accidental drops, how do they hold up?
What's the shipping costs from clove and how long is the usual delivery time?
(I have no idea about phones but I've been watching this thread, pretty informative).
