Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
Pinball Arcade offers somethng different to FX2. It is ultra realistic pinball. Not disputing that at all, but that's not what I want in a pinball game. Like I say, I prefer FX2. The reasns are that they do have the freedom to do some things that would not be possible on a real table. Like Giantbomb say though, maybe they don't go far enough on this. Maybe they should gonthe full Devil Crush, Sonic Spinball route ofbhuge branching table video pinball.
Also, I feel I can play longer on Fx2, have more crazy multiball situations, and not feel cheated as often.

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
I think that's the art of the original table though. It's like the difference between either going to a casino or a theme park. One's a thrill where a hot streak can end at any time, the other has entertainment but little in the way of risk or chance.
Probably not the greatest analogy, but you get the idea

Indianna Jones please... i'd buy it just for that.
Bloke used to have a dodgy little games shop down the road, Indianna Jones pinnie was his pride and joy and he had a massive score, he smoked everyone at it and let them know about it... after putting plenty of dollars in it over time I smashed the fuckers score with him standing next to me, went in there the next day to see he'd wiped the fucking scores!!

Not directly related to Pinball Arcade, but I certainly wouldn't mind giving this a good crack. It has "big seller" written all over it, which is a given considering the IP. The fact that it's designed by Steve Ritchie is just a massive bonus:

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
iOS update is finally out. Improved visuals for 4S and iPad 2/3, Medieval Madness and Bride of Pinbot.
As expected, there are a few little niggly problems I have with MM (seeing as it's the one virtual table so far I've spent a ridiculous amount of time IRL on) but it's good to now have it handheld _b

Get on it, you fucks. Such an awesome game, shits all over TZ because it's by Steve Ritchie and it's Star Trek.
And a video. Don't know if I can embed it or not, just right-click, save as and watch.

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
Just got a email from farsight and star trek plus others are on there way!
Project Update #2: We made it!
Posted by FarSight Studios
Thanks to the generosity and dedication of our backers the Star Trek: The Next Generation pinball project has reached it's goal! It's fitting that tomorrow is the 48th anniversary of the airing of the first Star Trek episode. We're proud to carry on the Star Trek legacy- on behalf of the entire team here at FarSight Studios, thank you for backing us! Star Trek: The Next Generation will definitely be coming your way!
We've been hinting that we'd make a licensing announcement if the project was successful, so here it is. We are excited to announce that we've signed a license with Elvia, Mistress of the Dark to bring the amazing Scared Stiff and Elvira and the Party Monsters tables to the Pinball Arcade! Elvira has been a longtime friend of pinball so this was not as difficult a license as the Twilight Zone or Star Trek. Consequently we don't need another Kickstarter campaign to fund it- it's definitely going to happen! Check out the video below!
There are still 8 days left in the Star Trek: The Next Generation project and we have some other high-profile licensed tables we'd like to digitize. We will use any additional money we raise over the amount needed for the Star Trek license to go after these licenses (we're sure you know which ones they are!)
Thanks again for backing us, and thanks for your support of the Pinball Arcade- you guys are amazing!

Stoked about Elvira, though. Never played any of them and they're both supposed to be pretty good. I had a hunch it was her when they mentioned they had someone else lined up. Also awesome of her to not charge them for her likeness either... including shooting that little video. Fucking unreal _b

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
Yeah true, but they managed to grab Star Trek which you would think would have big licensing $$$$ and issues...
Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
I think the main problem is with Raul Julia's estate. They won't allow his likeness to be used for anything.

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
They got the opportunity to get Star Trek when they did Twilight Zone because of Paramount. Addams Family has Raul Julia, the movie production company and possibly the license from the old TV show as well (I don't know how that works exactly). I think as far as using licensed tables go, the only one that would be harder would be GNR.guttermouth wrote:Yeah true, but they managed to grab Star Trek which you would think would have big licensing $$$$ and issues...

I'd love to see the Star Wars one I think Sega did. Was in the mid 90s, a dot matrix one from memory.

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
Taxi's finally been released, along with Harley Davidson (don't bother, supposed to be shit), Elvira's Party Monsters and No Good Gofers. I'm not a fan of Gofers (and generally anything Lawlor created, save for Funhouse and maybe a few others) but Taxi is fricken sweet. They also just updated the app today with additional bugfixes for the above new tables.
In other news, Stern are releasing a "home version" of Transformers. For $4,000. Yes, that seems like a pretty good deal, doesn't it?
Yep, $4,000USD. I think they're actually serious.
What a fucking turd. As if Stern games in general (except for AC/DC) aren't bad enough to start with.

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
Latest update is out for iOS, with Firepower and Dr. Dude. Have also (finally) included a "remote backup" feature, so I was able to backup on my iPad (most used device) and restore it on my iPhone. No idea if it's cross-platform or not (depends whether it saves it to iCloud or Farsight's own servers) but it'd be nifty if it could.

Re: Pinball thread including shinies and balls and stuff
I have played a few of Sterns new machines at local arcade and generally feel like cheap shit. Played the AC/DC machine and hated it. The whole build of the machines don't feel right, would hate to see what those cheaper machines are like. All their machines seemed to be Licensed crap. Luckily my local had had an Adams Family machine which I spent a few nights bashing it around and just found out my local Fish n Chip have Fish Tales, one of my favorite machines. Looking at buying a machine thinking about either Adams, Funhouse or Medieval Madness.Shaneus wrote:In other news, Stern are releasing a "home version" of Transformers. For $4,000.
