Paid up for:
Console with FrIFA and Forza

Will grab BF4 for the cheapest I see it (can we not play COD this gen plz)
Pretty sure I will throw cash at Killer Instinct

Tempted to get an extra Controller at $58 but might put the money towards Ryse.

Darkhorses:
NBA 2K14 (didn't play 2K13 enough to justify getting it right away)
Zoo Tycoon.

If Forza and especially KI are really good I will track one down along with a copy of NBA2K14. Everything else looks like filler.

Ryse official launch trailer.
First Hardware review

http://www.heavy.com/games/2013/11/xbox ... roller-tv/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Heavy.com - BUY
Pros
- Much better streamlined dashboard/UI
- Great selection and variety of launch games
- The controller is a lot better (THANK THE GAMING GODS FOR THAT NEW D-PAD!)
- The Kinect 2.0's body capture technology comes vastly improved
- Multitasking is a breeze thanks to the Snap feature
- Online gaming is a much better experience with Smart Match
- The apps all perform well
- Watching TV on your Xbox One just feels right
- Following your friends feels a lot easier to navigate than before
- The addition of media achievements and challenges is awesome

Cons
- The Kinect 2.0 voice recognition technology works...most of the time
- The SmartGlass app doesn't have a lot of readily compatible games/movies...yet
- Crimson Dragon and LocoCycle are letdowns

I have Friday off :)

Forza, Dead Rising, and Ryse.

Killer Instinct and maybe Power Golf as downloads.

Not sure if I should tempt the fates and start clearing a spot in the AV cabinet or set it up separately in case it bricks.

Will put the X360 and Foxtel as HDMI's in (have to get a splitter).

Wow, kind of surprised how negative that review is.

Look forward to checking out Polygon's.

Yup, everything in that review sounds terrible.
None of the voice commands can be done with buttons as quickly as with voice, purely due to bad design choice.
On the 360, everytime something new came in it didn't matter because everything was in the home button to begin with.
And the photo of the kinect itself... for some reason it finally sank in how fucking huge a kinect is and how it will just get in the fucking way.

My decision is still weighted on where fighting games end up but I'm pretty turned off by that review.

Let me also take this chance to bash killer instinct. I will wait and see to truly judge it but so far in all the streams I have watched I see nothing to suggest a new player will be playing the same game as an advanced player; capcom games are scaled in such a way that you can win with normal moves and good decision making; KI appears to be scaled in such a way that normal moves are simply a way to start a combo; a combo is easy to do by just mashing but will only do decent damage if you know how to finish it properly; a newbie is less inclined to win by using the few things they know and adding to that repertoire as they discover it. Ramble ramble ramble; it looks less fun and the sound of each combo hit is piss weak ;)

I'm pleased about the system being virtually silent under load. That's something I always hated about the 360, how friggen noisy the thing was.

From what I gather from all the reviews, voice commands don't work 10-20% of the time. Lots of stuff sorta works but the interface still has rough patches that need more work, understandable I guess.

They basically say forza and ryse are next gen show pieces, all the other exclusive games look like slightly better last gen games, which I agree with.

Check out the reviews at gaf, too lazy to repost it here.

The operating system is missing a few small but noticeable features. The Xbox 360 made it possible to assign a thumbstick-inversion preference to each profile, but the Xbox One doesn't.

Really? Where? I'm on the play store on my galaxy s4 and all I can find is the xbox smart glass I already have installed for months on my phone for the 360. It's not the same as that one is it?

how the fuck is it possible for either of these systems to have operating systems that are less capable than their predecessors?

Has anybody heard anything more about the Madcatz wheel? I can't find out diddly squat about it - not even a rumoured price yet :(
